- Day 1
Urumqi
You're arriving in Urumqi today, the capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. This city sits at the northern foot of the Tianshan Mountains and holds the distinction of being the world's farthest city from any ocean. It's a historically significant stop on the ancient Silk Road's Northern Route, so there's a lot of cultural depth here to explore over the coming days.

- Day 2
Urumqi to Fuyun
After breakfast, you'll drive out to Heavenly Lake of Tianshan, a crescent-shaped alpine lake surrounded by dense spruce forests with Bogda Peak rising in the background. You can walk the scenic 12.5 km lakeside trail at your own pace, or if you want, there are optional cable car rides and lake cruises available for an extra cost. From there, you'll continue on to Fuyun to settle into your hotel for the night.

- Day 3
Fuyun to Burqin
Today takes you through the Keketuohai Scenic Area and National Geopark, where you'll see dramatic granite formations and rare mineral deposits. The No. 3 Mine Pit is the centerpiece here—it's over 100 meters deep and ranks as the world's largest. You'll then follow along the Irtysh Grand Canyon past notable rock formations and Shenzhong Mountain. By evening, you'll reach Burqin and head to Five-Colored Beach for sunset, where the colorful Yardang landforms create quite a visual display.

Burqin to Kanas
You'll drive to Jiadengyu and then transfer to a shuttle bus to enter the Kanas Scenic Area. This alpine lake sits hidden in the Altai Mountains and is known for its changing colors throughout the day and local legends about a lake monster. The Fish Viewing Pavilion sits atop Camel Peak and offers panoramic views of the whole area. If you're interested, there are forest hiking trails available for a more immersive nature experience.

Kanas to Burqin
Today you're heading to Hemu Village, located about 30 kilometers east of Kanas Lake and home to Kazakh and Tuva people. Walk through the village and see the log cabins that characterize the settlement. The Hemu River runs through with misty forests creating a peaceful atmosphere. You can climb to the Hardeng Platform for sweeping views of the village and surrounding landscape. Later, you'll return to Burqin and check into your hotel.

You're back in Hemu Village today for another chance to experience Tuva culture and the log cabin architecture. Spend time exploring the quiet riverside setting where mist hangs over the forests, and wander around the distinctive wooden houses. The Hardeng Platform climb gives you those wide views of how the village sits within the natural landscape.

Burqin to Yining
You'll journey through Bortala Prefecture on a winding road leading to Sayram Lake, which sits backed by snow-capped mountains and surrounded by grasslands. The water here has a brilliant blue color, and if you're traveling June to July, wildflowers bloom around the lake. From there, you'll drive through Guozigou Valley with its impressive bridge and mountain tunnels, then continue to Yining City for your hotel.
