Rome
You'll arrive in Rome and get transferred to your hotel, giving you the afternoon to drop your bags and get oriented. Stop by the hotel reception desk to pick up any information about your tour before settling in for the evening.

- Day 2
Rome
Start the morning with a three-hour guided tour that combines walking through Imperial Rome and a bus ride taking in the Arch of Constantine, Colosseum exterior, Imperial Forums, and Circus Maximus. You'll reach Vatican City around 11:00 a.m., where the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel visit is optional. Later, head to Trastevere for dinner at a local restaurant, getting back around 8:30 p.m.

Rome
This day is yours to do as you like. If you're visiting April through October, there's an optional trip to Capri. From November through March, you can join an optional excursion to Naples and Pompeii instead.

- Day 4
Rome - Orvieto - Castiglione del Lago - Siena
Travel through Umbria's countryside and stop in Orvieto to take in views from a viewpoint, then ride escalators up to the medieval center to see the Gothic cathedral. Continue to Castiglione del Lago on Lake Trasimeno for a walk and lunch. Finish the day in Siena with time to check out the famous Piazza del Campo and the Duomo.

- Day 5
Siena - Monteriggioni - San Gimignano - Florence
Leave Siena and head to Monteriggioni, a charming medieval village with cobbled streets and ancient walls, then move on to San Gimignano, known for its tall medieval towers. After lunch, travel to Florence and explore the historic center. Art lovers can visit the Uffizi Gallery or Accademia Gallery (closed Mondays). Dinner is included this evening.

- Day 6
Florence
Start at the Michelangelo viewpoint for city views, then walk down to the historic center for a guided tour. You'll see the Gothic Cathedral, Ponte Vecchio with its goldsmith shops, and Piazza della Signoria. Wear comfortable shoes since there's quite a bit of walking involved.

Florence - Pisa - Cinque Terre - Genoa
Travel to Pisa and take a tourist train to Piazza dei Miracoli to see the famous Leaning Tower. Head to the Ligurian Riviera and visit Cinque Terre, a UNESCO site with five charming villages. Train tickets are included and you'll typically arrive in Vernazzo, or Manarola/Corniglia during busy periods. Grab lunch, then take the train to Levanto and a bus to Genoa for some free time exploring the city center.

Genoa - Portofino - Milan
Travel to Santa Margherita Ligure and head out to Portofino, one of Europe's most exclusive spots. Spend time with a seaside stroll and leisure time there. After lunch, continue to Milan for free time exploring this modern, elegant city. You can check out the Gothic cathedral in Piazza del Duomo and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.

- Day 9
Milan - Lakes Region - Verona
Explore the Italian Lakes region starting with Lake Orta in Orta San Giulio, a well-preserved medieval city. Take a train to the medieval center and a boat to the Island of San Giulio with its monastery. Continue to Lake Maggiore with a stop in Stresa, where there's an optional visit to the Borromean Islands, particularly Isola Bella with its gardens and palace. Have lunch, then head to Verona.

- Day 10
Verona - Venice
Explore Verona, the city of Romeo and Juliet, before leaving for Venice, arriving around 1:00 p.m. A boat trip to St. Mark's Square is included, followed by a guided walking tour of the city including a visit to Murano glasswork. You'll have leisure time afterward, maybe for a gondola ride if you'd like. Tonight you'll stay in the Mestre district.

Venice - Palermo
Your guide will let you know when to transfer to the airport for a domestic flight included in your tour. After you arrive in Palermo, you'll get another hotel transfer. Your guide will contact you at the end of the afternoon or you can check information at the hotel reception.

- Day 12
Palermo
Take a guided tour of Palermo starting with the Cathedral featuring various architectural styles and royal tombs, then the Norman Palace with its fountains, markets, and gardens. Visit Monreale and its Cathedral, a UNESCO site famous for its golden mosaics. Return to Palermo for a free afternoon to explore on your own.

Leave Palermo and follow the scenic Tyrrhenian Sea coastline, then head inland to Castelbuono, a mountain town with ancient walls, a castle, and charming central streets. Visit Cefalu, a coastal town with a famous Norman cathedral and unique mosaics. After lunch, continue along the coast to Tindari to see the Sanctuary atop a mountain with sea views and nearby Greek ruins. End the day in Milazzo, a lively port city.

Milazzo - Vulcano - Lipari - Taormina
Start with a hydrofoil to Vulcano, where you'll experience active fumaroles and their sulfur smell. The island has hot water beaches where you can soak in sulfurous hot springs believed to benefit skin. Take a 15-minute hydrofoil to Lipari, the largest Aeolian island with a historic center and castle. Have lunch and stroll around, then return by boat to Milazzo and continue to Taormina, arriving by evening. Dinner is included.

Continue to Syracuse, an ancient city on the Ionian Sea. Explore Ortigia island with its lively streets, cathedral, castle, and seaside terraces. Have lunch and free time to walk around.
