- Day 1
Tavira
After arriving in Faro, you'll transfer to Tavira, a charming coastal town where the real exploring begins. Start by walking through the old town to check out the interesting buildings and grab a coffee at one of the cozy cafés. From there, head to the fish market to get a sense of local life, then cross the Roman bridge on foot. Later, stroll along the River Gilao to finish off the day and get your bearings in this quiet seaside setting.

Cacela Velha - Cabanas
This morning you'll start a leisurely hike from the old village of Cacela Velha, following secluded coastal paths toward the fishing village of Cabanas. The walk takes about 4 hours covering roughly 14 km, and you'll spend time seeing the active fishing industry at work. After lunch there, the route heads back through salt ponds where you can spot various bird species. This return portion brings you back to Tavira by afternoon, completing a nice mix of coastal and wetland terrain.

- Day 3
Fuzeta
Starting from the fishing village of Fuzeta, this 4-hour hike covers approximately 16 km along salt ponds and through small villages with colorful houses. You'll pass through blossoming fruit groves and walk the edge of the Ria Formosa lagoon while moving through the nature park. By late afternoon, the route takes you across extensive fields back to Tavira's old town, finishing up the day with a good stretch of walking and varied scenery.

Landmarks Fuzeta Ria Formosa Nature Park - Day 4
Ilha de Tavira
You'll head out to Ilha de Tavira island and its sandy beaches within the Ria Formosa nature reserve for this 3.5-hour walk covering about 13 km. Start by visiting the small fishing village of Santa Luzia, then cross the lagoon bridge to reach the island. Along the way, you'll pass the Cemetery of Anchors before walking the beach toward the island's northern end. A boat brings you back to Tavira at the end of the day, making for a nice combination of walking and water travel.
