Lisbon to Merida - Madrid
You'll leave Lisbon early and head across into Spain toward Merida. The Roman ruins here are on the UNESCO list, and you'll have time to wander through them and check out the ancient amphitheatre at your own pace. After grabbing lunch, you'll continue on to Madrid for the night.

Madrid
Following breakfast, there's a guided tour covering Madrid's main attractions. You'll see the grand boulevards, historic squares, and key landmarks around the city. From there, the afternoon is yours to spend however you'd like, walking around and getting a feel for the neighborhoods at your own speed.

Madrid to Toledo to Madrid
Head south in the morning to Toledo, an ancient city that sits on a hilltop. First, you'll stop at Mirador del Valle to get panoramic views of the entire city and landscape, then walk into the old town itself. The narrow winding streets take you through layers of Christian, Jewish, and Moorish history all mixed together. After exploring, you'll drive back to Madrid where the afternoon is free to continue checking things out around the city on your own.

By evening, head to some of the tapas bars and neighborhoods Madrid's known for, and grab dinner wherever appeals to you.
