  Unfortunately we had our wallet stolen while walking in Santiago. Obviously this is not the fault of the company, but I want to mention how supportive the Wonderful team was. They helped us contact the police, arranged translations, and checked in constantly. That level of support meant a lot.Show more

  I booked my Heart of South America through tour radar with Wonderful Holidays to book small group travel so I was not travelling South America alone. The trip was advertised as being a tour with groups between 2-4, and it wasn't until I landed in Santiago, Chile a day before my 'tour' started I was told that I'd be travelling the three countries over 14 days alone. Wonderful Holidays acted as a third part intermediary who organised hotels, day tours, transfers etc with local contacts. Their communication was poor, ambiguous and unclear prior to and during the trip. They offered very limited on the ground support, no daily recommendations and were difficult to communicate with throughout my travels. The trip did not meet my expectations and the downtown locations of the hotels, especially in Santiago, Chile were not 4 to 5 star quality. The hotel was in what the driver called 'the ambulance' zone, air conditioning was not working for the entire stay, and the pool was under maintenance and not in use. The countries I saw were beautiful, however, had I known this company were to act as a travel agent, I would have arranged my travels myself and done far more research. Personally, from my experience, I would not recommend wonderful holidays especially for solo travellers.Show more

We would, however, like to clarify a few points for the benefit of future travellers. The tour was operated as a small group departure, exactly as advertised. The other guests on your departure chose to upgrade their accommodation from the standard 4-star hotels included in the package to 5-star hotels after we offered them this option prior to travel. As a result, whilst everyone travelled on the same flights, and sightseeing experiences, guests were collected from and returned to different hotels on this occassion. Although you may not have been staying at the same hotel as the other travelers, you were not travelling independently. Throughout the journey, all guests were accompanied by our drivers / Guides right from picking them up at the first arrival airport to dropping off at the departure airport, the experiences, domestic travel, with our local teams coordinating the logistics across each destination. Regarding the hotels, we appreciate that accommodation is often one of the most subjective aspects of any holiday. We continually review guest feedback and work with our local partners to improve our offerings wherever possible. Whilst we had not previously received similar feedback regarding the Santiago hotel, we certainly take your comments into consideration as part of our ongoing review process and will change the 4 Star offering. We were also very sorry to learn that you became unwell during your stay in Buenos Aires and sincerely hope you recovered quickly. It was following your illness and your request to cancel the Tango Dinner & Show on the day of the experience that much of our subsequent communication focused on your wellbeing and on trying to assist with your request. Unfortunately, as the cancellation request was made at the last minute, our local team was unable to secure a refund because the arrangements had already been confirmed and the seats could not be resold. This was in accordance with the booking terms and conditions. We also respectfully disagree with the suggestion that support was limited throughout your trip. Our records show (instant chat group) that our team remained in regular contact, providing boarding passes, reconfirming flights and transfers, checking on your daily experiences, confirming the following day's arrangements, and ensuring everything was running smoothly. We also arranged a complimentary upgrade to an ocean-view room at the Hilton in Rio de Janeiro 5 Star right at the end of the tour and organised a complimentary lunch during your Iguazu Falls excursion. Apart from your request regarding the Tango Dinner refund and a transfer time correction, we received very few responses to our regular check-ins. Since your review raises concerns about the delivery of the tour itself, we also reviewed the communications from the other guests travelling on the same departure. Throughout their journey, they consistently praised the experience, describing the guides as knowledgeable, the drivers as excellent and professional, the sightseeing as well-paced, and the transfers as smooth and well organised. They also complimented our team's responsiveness when assisting with itinerary adjustments during the tour and expressed satisfaction with the organisation across all three countries. We fully appreciate that every traveler's experience is personal and that two people on the same departure may have different perspectives. However, we believe it is important for future travelers to understand that the tour itself was delivered as intended and that the other guests on the same departure reported having a very positive experience. We are pleased that you enjoyed the incredible destinations you visited, as South America is truly an amazing part of the world. While we regret that certain aspects of your holiday did not meet your expectations, we remain committed to supporting our guests throughout their travels and continuously improving the experience we provide.
