Itinerary
- Day 1
Glasgow to Leith
You'll arrive in Glasgow and head to Leith for your ship transfer. Drop off your checked luggage at the meeting point between 9am and 12pm, so plan your flight to land by 11am if possible. Boarding starts at 4pm on the Expedition. Once everyone's aboard and the ship pushes off, you'll have dinner in one of the dining rooms.

Landmarks Port of Leith - Day 2
Orkney Islands
The ship sails north toward the Orkney Islands and you'll dock in Kirkwall. From there, you can walk through 5,000-year-old Neolithic sites like Skara Brae and see what life looked like thousands of years ago. Keep an eye out for wildlife throughout the day as you explore this historically rich landscape.

- Days 3 - 6
Shetland Islands and Orkney Islands
You'll spend the next four days moving between the Shetland and Orkney Islands. The stops include Lerwick, Hermaness National Nature Reserve, Papa Stour (a tiny place with just 15 people), and Foula where the scenery is dramatic and rugged. Watch for puffins and seals, and you might come across signs of ancient Viking settlements if you wander around North Ronaldsay and Papa Westray.

Thurso
You'll head to the dramatic cliffs at Duncansby Head and Dunnet Head where puffins, fulmars, and guillemots nest. After that, you dock in Thurso, Scotland's northernmost town on the mainland. There's the Caithness Horizons Museum to check out, the Wolfburn Distillery if you're interested in whisky, and the ruins of Thurso Castle surrounded by beautiful countryside.

St Kilda Archipelago
The ship sails out to Stac Lee, Britain's tallest sea stack where northern gannets gather in huge numbers. You'll then move on to Hirta, the largest island in the St Kilda group, and get a chance to see puffin colonies in their natural habitat, though the visit is brief.

Landmarks Stac Lee Hirta - Day 9
Isle of Lunga and Isle of Iona
You'll land at the Isle of Lunga in the Treshnish Isles where a large breeding colony of puffins lives in a wild, rugged setting with no development. The group splits up: half go on a zodiac cruise along the cliffs while the other half walks up the hillside to see puffins up close, then you swap. Later, you head to the Isle of Iona and take a guided tour through Iona Abbey to learn about how Christianity came to Scotland.

Greenock to Glasgow
After breakfast, you disembark at the Port of Greenock. If you're leaving today, G Adventures provides a free transfer at 8am to Glasgow International Airport. If you're staying longer in Glasgow, taxis are available at the port for hire. Just don't book any onward travel before noon to give yourself enough time.
