  1. Day 1

    Arrival in Tromsø

You'll arrive in Tromsø and get settled into your accommodation. After that, spend the evening checking out the 'Venice of the North' at your own pace. The midnight sun creates this magical light that hangs around all night, so you can wander around whenever you like. There's an optional cable car ride if you want to get up high for views over the city and surrounding landscape.

    Optional Activities

Before lunch or after, try a traditional skolebølrd pastry at a local spot.

Head to the North Pole Expedition Museum in the afternoon to get a feel for Arctic exploration and what to expect from your upcoming adventure.

Later, head out to Camp Barentz in the tundra. By late afternoon or early evening, board the MS Serenissima and cruise into Isfjord. Keep watch for whales, seals, and kingfishers as you head out on the water.

Spend the day on the MS Serenissima cruising toward Magdalenenfjord and deeper into Arctic wilderness. You'll watch glaciers calving right into the sea from the deck. Binoculars help for spotting bird colonies and, if you're lucky, polar bears and other Arctic wildlife moving across the landscape. There's time to move between decks and different vantage points throughout the day.

If ice conditions cooperate, you'll cross the 80 degree North latitude line, which is pretty far north. Later, stop at Moffen island, a protected walrus habitat. You might see walruses hauled out on the shore, which is something you won't forget.

The trip was well organized. Unfortunately, the mountain railroads in Narvik and Tromsø were not in operation for a long time, which we would have liked to have known beforehand. The travel vouchers were delivered very close to departure.

We had a great time during this trip, everything was perfectly organised and went as expected. I would not necessarily recommend sleeping in the cold room at the Ice hotel, since you can anyway visit the rooms, but the hotel itself was great, with awesome excursions and the warm rooms are very comfortable. Tromso was also really beautiful and I wish I could have stayed there a bit longer!

Very well organized, we landed in Dublin at 07:30 and were in our car at 08:30. The hotels were all very well chosen. We were very happy with our trip and can only recommend it to others.
