- Full-day self-guided trekking in El Chaltén area with bilingual guide and transfers - departs 7:00 am from hotel along legendary Route 40, scenic stops at Hotel La Leona (approximately 1 hour 15 minutes), Lake Viedma, and Viedma Glacier viewpoint, arrival in mountain village of El Chaltén after 3 hours and 220 km, visit National Park Interpretation Centre, receive lunch box and map for self-guided exploration of trails and viewpoints, 6 hours free trekking time, depart at 18:00 for return to El Calafate (approximately 8:00 pm arrival). Available September to April. Duration: approximately 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. Requires fitness level for physical effort. Wear long trousers, sun blocker, sunglasses, extra coat, gloves, hat, waterproof wind breaker, and backpack.
