  Sri Lanka: 15 Nights / 16 Days with Exotic Perla (Feb 2026) TourRadar Review • Rating: 4.5 / 5 ★★★★½ Route: Negombo → Anuradhapura → Jaffna → Trincomalee → Polonnaruwa → Sigiriya →Kandy → Nuwara Eliya → Ella → Weligama → Dickwella → Bentota → Colombo Overview Sri Lanka in 16 days is a whirlwind — but this, was an absolutely brilliant one. From the moment we landed in Negombo to our final hours in Colombo, this trip delivered an extraordinary range of experiences: ancient ruins, misty tea plantations, golden beaches, incredible wildlife and some of the warmest hospitality I’ve ever encountered. If you’re looking for a destination that packs culture, nature, adventure and food into one unforgettable journey, Sri Lanka and Exotic Perla, deliver on every count. Highlights Scaling Sigiriya Rock Fortress just after dawn was a genuine bucket-list moment, though totally exhausting. The views from the top are staggering, and the surrounding cultural experiences made it a full-day highlight. The safari tours at both Wilpattu and Kaudulla were phenomenal; watching elephant herds (babies included) and spotting crocodiles, water buffalo, water monitors, spotted deer and so many species of exotic birds in the wild, felt surreal. White water rafting on the Kelani River was a brilliant adrenaline rush but also offered snatched chances to enjoy the beautiful landscapes. The train ride from Nanu-oya station to Ella through lush tea plantation country was one of the most scenic rail journeys I’ve ever done, and taking in the postcard perfect Nine Arches Bridge via a hidden little walk from Ella, was an unexpected treat. Although ancient sites and ruins, and both Buddhist and Hindu temples abound in Sri Lanka, the balance on this tour was well curated, resulting in an awestruck not overwhelmed impression. The temples and surprisingly the hotel in Jaffna (where we saw several Sri Lankan weddings up close) offered some of the most authentic cultural immersion of the trip. Don't miss the shopping in Galle, the Galle cricket ground (for cricket fans), and especially the picturesque Galle Fort on its little peninsula; and the turtle hatchery in Bentota was a surprisingly moving experience. A personalised evening tour of Colombo's city sights, as our final day concluded, rounded everything out beautifully. The food throughout — whether at hotels or local spots in town — was consistently delicious, with standout Sri Lankan flavours at almost every stop. Having such an experienced local guide was so reassuring re: good eating venues and safely consuming street food. Tour Guide Our tour guide Buddhika, deserves a special mention. Knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly considerate throughout the entire trip — he anticipated our needs before we even voiced them, brought history to life at every site and made the long drives between destinations genuinely enjoyable. A great guide can make or break a trip like this, and Buddhika absolutely made ours. A Few Lowlights In the spirit of balance, a couple of things fell short. Our final night’s accommodation was at a large resort — the kind of sprawling, impersonal property that feels a world away from the intimate, character filled places we’d stayed throughout the rest of the trip. The food there was a particular disappointment: generic international fare with very little authentic Sri Lankan cooking on offer, which felt like a shame given how good the local food had been everywhere else. The other small gripe: the photos and video package sold alongside the white water rafting were poor quality and overpriced. It’s a minor thing, but worth knowing so you can manage expectations — or skip it entirely and just enjoy the experience. Who This Trip Suits This itinerary suits curious, adventurous travellers who want to see the real breadth of Sri Lanka — not just one coast or one experience. It’s fairly fast-paced, so come prepared for early starts and lots of ground to cover. Every kilometre is worth it. Final Verdict A 4.5 out of 5 trip — and the half-point is really just the final resort holding it back from perfection. This Sri Lankan tour exceeded every expectation: the scenery, the wildlife, the temples, the food and above all, the people. I’d return without hesitation and recommend this tour warmly to anyone with a sense of adventure and curiosity.Show more
