Itinerary
- Day 1
Mt Nemrut
You'll head to Mt Nemrut, climbing to the 2,100-meter summit where Antiochus I built his tomb during the Hellenistic period. Once you reach the top, you'll find massive stone statues of gods positioned on both the east and west sides of the peak. The heads have toppled over centuries, but the site itself is in solid condition and gives you a real sense of the scale and ambition behind this ancient monument. The effort to get up there makes seeing the remains even more worthwhile.

Şanlıurfa
Start by visiting the Dergah Complex, an Ottoman-style stone mosque built around an ancient cave where Abraham reportedly stayed until he turned 15. After that, head to Göbekli Tepe, which sits about 12 kilometers from Şanlıurfa town. This site changed how archaeologists understand early human history because it's considered the world's first temple or ritual site, showing that people were gathering for religious purposes much earlier than previously thought. You'll get a real look at how societies developed their spiritual practices.
