Even before the trip began, I was given a very detailed itinerary for each individual day: route length, elevation gain, and accommodation. Kostas organised everything brilliantly: he picked me up from the airport and took me back there again at the end! The daily walks were brilliantly structured, getting longer and involving more elevation gain with each passing day. The choice of routes was wonderful, and the daily packed lunches for the walk were lovingly put together. Every day was full of beauty: the route to the Meteora monasteries, the path past the stone bridges from Kipi to Bitsa and Monodendri, and the walk through the Vikos Gorge. What impressed me most was the ascent to the Astraka Hut and Dragon Lake – that long hike through the wild mountain landscape. But the time spent at Lake Prespa was also very special: the little rock-cut churches, the island with its many old, ruined churches, and the still very unspoilt landscape there. All the overnight stays were wonderful; I particularly enjoyed Mikro Papingko, a small village at the foot of the Tymphi Mountains. I also enjoyed Aghios Germanos, above Lake Prespa. Dinners took place in tavernas chosen by Kostas, serving wonderful Greek food which we selected and shared together. Throughout this trip, it was evident in every aspect just how much passion Kostas puts into his work. Some wonderful days – I can highly recommend them.Show more

Joining the Great Northern Traverse was an ultimate hiking experience. The journey combines three of the most beautiful parts of the mainland of Greece. Kostas appeared to be an intelligent organizer and an excellent guide. The difficulty of the successive hikes was well-dosed, the small-scale guesthouses offered great hospitality and the authentic Greek restaurants served delicious food. With expertise, patience and humour, Kostas took good care of the group, while keeping an eye on individual needs and preferences. All in all a great pleasure and I can highly recommend the Great Northern Traverse.Show more
