Khongor Sand Dune
You'll drive about 195km to reach Khongor Sand Dunes, which are the largest in Mongolia. The dunes stretch roughly 180km and reach heights around 80 meters, so there's plenty to explore. After arriving, you can hike and slide down the sand (it actually makes a humming sound as you move through it, which is why locals call them the singing sands). The area has more than just sand though. You'll find lush vegetation along the Khongor river where you can walk around and see the landscape change. A visit to a local camel breeding family gives you insight into how they work with these animals, and you'll get a short camel ride to experience the dunes from a different perspective.

After sunrise you'll have breakfast, then head back into the desert for more activities. Part of today focuses on visiting mineral water springs that sit right in the middle of the dune area. These natural springs offer a refreshing contrast to the dry sand surrounding them.

Baga Gazriin Chuluu

This location holds real spiritual history. It was an important place for shamanic worship practices, and you can still see stone altars scattered around. There are also ruins from ancient Mongolian temples that once supported the empire's military operations along trade routes. The combination of geological formations and historical structures makes this a significant stop.
