Cusco
You'll start with hotel pickup in the morning for a half-day tour through Cusco's historic center. Your guide takes you first to the Cathedral, where you can see the blend of Spanish colonial and local architectural styles. From there, it's a short walk to Qorikancha Temple, the former royal palace of the Inca emperors, now partially incorporated into a Spanish church. After exploring the temple complex, you'll head up to the Archaeological Park of Sacsayhuaman, which sits high above the city. The massive stone walls here show the engineering skill of ancient Incan builders, and you get good views back over Cusco from the site. By early afternoon, your guide brings you back to your hotel. The whole tour is manageable in about four hours, and the altitude ranges from 11,000 to 12,600 feet, so the pace is relaxed.
