We saw lots of interesting sites, and the tour guides were fine, but I'll never do another Europamundo tour due to their disorganization and poor logistics. 1. No one picked me up at the airport. I called the emergency number and they gave me the number of the driver and he told me he had already been there once (he came too early) and he wasn't coming back. "Take a taxi." 2. It doesn't mention in the description that this is a very active hop on/hop off tour. Europamundo has many simultaneous tours with overlapping points like a Venn diagram. At multiple spots some people get on, some get off. At one point we sat in a parking lot for 45 minutes waiting for another bus to arrive just so we could swap passengers. In Bucharest we sat in a hotel lobby for 4 hours because of a need to switch buses because of a large influx of new travelers, plus a marathon was going on blocking the streets to our hotel (or so we were told). The city website listed which streets were closed and they knew the marathon was happening - they couldn't plan for it? 3. One night we didn't get to our destination until 8:45 pm because of road construction traffic. The tour guide said it had been going on for 6 years. As we went maybe one mile in 1 hour, Google maps said we could have gotten there 45 minutes sooner using an alternate route. 4. on a couple days we didn't get to the destination city until 7 pm or later (dark) and left at 8 am - no time to see the cities at all (and we could have gotten there sooner if some lesser stop was left off the itinerary - a couple of the itinerary choices were questionable). 5. Every seat on the buses was filled. No assigned seating like Gate 1. This lead to a frenzied dash every morning as people vied for the best seats. A verbal altercation broke out on at least one day. 6. You frequently have to load and unload your own suitcases from the undercarriage of the bus. Someone asked one of the drivers once why they didn't help - "Not my job." On logistics alone I give them one star. But there are a lot of interesting places in the Balkans. See them with another company.Show more

Just completed the Balkanic Miracle tour. We had a great experience due to the comprehensive itinerary and incredible logistics and planning by Europamundo. Despite the distances we had to travel everyday, the Europamundo guides gave us plenty of rest stops and managed the border crossings smoothly and efficiently. For the Bulgaria-Romania-Serbia-Bosnia leg, we were only 4 English speakers on a full bus of Spanish speakers. Having read reviews from other English speakers who ended up on majority Spanish-speaking buses, we were initally apprehensive. But kudos to Europamundo for assigning to our small group one of their most capable bilingual English and Spanish speaking guides, Viktor Toshev. He went the extra mile every day to ensure that we were not treated as an afterthought (as some other reviewers on other tours have commented). He was organised, his commentary clear, thorough but succinct, and his energy and enthusiasm was infectious, making the sites come alive. Due to the level of care we were given, it often felt like we were on a private customised tour and not a big group package tour. A good guide makes all the difference! The modular nature of the tour meant we had to be handed over to other guides along the way. This was smoothly done thanks to the efficency of guides Bibliana, Maria, Marco, Elena and Rafa.
