Bucharest
You'll arrive in Bucharest and have the day to yourself. Wander through the city's trendy shops and cafés, check out museums, look at the beautiful homes and churches scattered throughout, and spend time along Victory Avenue to get a feel for the place.

Bucharest to Oltenita
Start with a guided tour of Bucharest's tree-lined boulevards, the Arc de Triomphe dedicated to WWI soldiers, and Royal Palace Square, where the 1989 riots ended communist rule. Afternoon brings a drive to Oltenita where you'll board your Avalon Suite Ship. Explore the ship, have dinner onboard, then sail overnight to Rousse.

Rousse - Veliko Târnovo - Arbanassi
The ship docks in Rousse, Bulgaria. You can join a bike tour, take a guided sightseeing tour of Bulgaria's largest inland port and visit Holy Trinity Church plus the UNESCO rock-hewn churches of Ivanovo, or do a full-day trip to Veliko Tarnovo with its ancient stone houses on cliffs above the Yantra River and the 15th-century town of Arbanassi. Later sail to Svistov and head overnight to Vidin.

Explore Vidin at your own pace with your Adventure Host, take a bike ride, or join a guided tour to Belogradchik to see the remarkable rock formations shaped over 200 million years on the Balkan Mountain slopes, then visit Baba Vida Fortress. Evening brings live Bulgarian folklore entertainment onboard before sailing overnight to Donji Milanovac.

Iron Gates Gorge - Golubač
Before lunch, sail through the narrow Iron Gates Gorge, the natural border between Serbia and Romania. Join a guided tour to Lepenski Vir, a Mesolithic archaeological site with prehistoric artifacts and Danube Gorge views, then continue to Golubac Fortress, one of Europe's best-preserved medieval fortresses. Overnight cruise brings you to Belgrade.

Explore Belgrade where the Danube and Sava Rivers meet. Walk through the city's central walkway with your Adventure Host or take a guided sightseeing tour to see Saint Sava, one of the world's largest Orthodox churches, and other sights. You can also do an optional biking tour or spend time on Knez Mihailova Street with its cafés and shops. Later enjoy an onboard lecture about Balkan history and culture before sailing overnight to Novi Sad.
