Itinerary
- Day 1
Palermo
You'll land at Palermo Airport and get your rental car sorted, then head to check in at your hotel. The day is yours to explore the city at your own pace. The Norman Palace has incredible Byzantine mosaics if you're into that sort of thing, and the Cathedral is right there in the heart of things. Walk through Quattro Canti and Piazza Pretoria to get a feel for the layout. For lunch, hit up Ballaró Market where you can grab street food and see how locals eat. Afterward, you might catch Teatro Massimo opera house, wander through Villa Bonanno park, or check out the botanical gardens if you have energy left. You'll stay overnight in Palermo.

- Day 2
Palermo to Cefalù
After breakfast, you're driving to Cefalù, this charming little coastal town that's worth the drive. The narrow medieval streets are fun to walk through, and the Cathedral with its Norman architecture and mosaics is really something to see. Grab a Sicilian lunch at one of the beachside spots and take your time with it. The afternoon is for relaxing on Cefalù Beach, where the golden sand and clear Mediterranean water are perfect for just decompressing. From there, you'll head back to Palermo for the night.

- Day 3
Palermo to Trapani
You're checking out after breakfast and driving to Trapani. Start exploring the historic center at Piazza Vittorio Emanuele and walk down Corso Vittorio Emanuele. The baroque Cathedral of San Lorenzo and the Church of Purgatory with its wooden Easter statues are worth seeing. Lunch is a good time to try local fish couscous. Later, head to Torre di Ligny watchtower and museum for views out over the water. Before dinner, you can walk around the nearby salt pans and visit the Salt Museum if you're interested. End your day with dinner at a seaside restaurant and an evening stroll along the waterfront. You'll stay in Trapani.

- Day 4
Trapani - Segesta - Erice
After breakfast, you're heading to Segesta Archaeological Park to see the well-preserved 5th-century Doric Temple and the 3rd-century Greek Theatre with countryside stretching out around it. You'll grab lunch somewhere, then move on to Erice, a medieval hilltop town. You can drive there or take the scenic funicular cable car if you want something different. Walk the cobblestone streets, check out the Norman Castle which sits on an ancient Venus temple site, and see the 14th-century Mother Church. Stick around for sunset before driving back to Trapani for the night.

- Day 5
Trapani to Marsala
You'll check out and drive to Marsala. The main square, Piazza della Repubblica, has a nice fountain and some interesting architecture worth looking at. The baroque Cathedral of Marsala is there too. Lunch comes with a guided tour at a famous winery like Cantine Florio or Donna Fugata, where you'll do wine and food tasting. During the afternoon, explore the salt pans in the Stagnone Nature Reserve and visit the Salt Museum. If you're up for it, take a short boat trip to Mozia, an ancient Phoenician settlement with its own museum. Come back to watch the sunset over the salt pans before settling in for the night in Marsala.

Marsala to Favignana
Early morning ferry from Marsala to Favignana takes about 30 minutes. Once you're there, rent a bike, e-bike, or scooter to get around the island. Start at Piazza Madrice and its church, then check out the Ex Stabilimento Florio museum to learn about the island's tuna fishing past. Lunch at a local trattoria means trying traditional dishes like busiate al pesto trapanese or grilled fish. Spend the afternoon on one of the beaches, Cala Rossa, Bue Marino, or Cala Azzurra, just relaxing and swimming. Wander the quaint streets a bit more before catching the ferry back to Marsala for the night.
