This tour includes multiple safaris in Sri Lanka's national parks, all conducted in comfortable 4x4 safari jeeps. The tour is suitable for most travelers, regardless of age. Our full-day safaris typically begin at around 6:00 AM and finish by approximately 6:00 PM. During the day, we make several stops, giving you opportunities to stretch, relax, and use restroom facilities whenever needed. All of our safari vehicles are equipped with comfortable seats. While some of the park roads can be bumpy, our experienced safari drivers take extra care to drive as smoothly and safely as possible to ensure a comfortable experience. However, if you have recently undergone back surgery or have a serious spinal condition, we would not recommend this tour, as the uneven terrain may cause discomfort.

I have traveled all over the world since I was a young adult. With more than 60 countries in my curriculum, Asia was the continent I visited the least, spending most of my time in Africa and South America. It was time to visit Asia and do a safari in their most popular destination, Sri Lanka. I can only speak about my regret for not exploring Asia and Sri Lanka earlier. The people are amazing, the wildlife is just stunning. You have to go to know how it is; it is difficult to explain. It has absolutely nothing to do with a zoo. Here on this island, the animals run free, and the circle of life can be experienced. Our tour operator was Roar and Rove, chosen after careful consideration and analysis of reviews and forums. We're all happy with the choice, as the logistics were smooth. The safari jeeps (Land Cruiser, Toyota Hilux, and Bolero) were all in great shape in each national park and never let us down. And, especially, the guide, Asanka, provided one of the best experiences we could ever have hoped for. Highly recommended!Show more

I’ve been to many Asian countries, including several in South Asia, and I had always wanted to visit Sri Lanka. I had heard so much about the country’s rich history, beautiful nature, and especially the Wildlife. I really wanted to experience a safari, climb Sigiriya, and see everything Sri Lanka has to offer. When I came across Roar & Rove Safaris, this Big Five itinerary matched exactly what I was looking for. From day one, everything was perfectly managed and organised down to the smallest detail. Our driver-guide greeted us at the airport with a warm smile and a beautiful seashell necklace, which was such a lovely welcome. All of our safari drivers were always on time, polite, and incredibly friendly. At Wilpattu National Park, my wife and I had an unforgettable day. We saw three leopards together in the morning and a sloth bear in the afternoon. Our driver was excellent, he knew exactly where to go and when to go. I cannot fully express just how amazing the safaris were. Seeing wildlife up close from the safety of the 4x4 jeep was an incredible experience. Our guide, Kesara, was outstanding. He had extensive knowledge about animal behaviour and worked closely with the safari drivers to ensure we had respectful and memorable wildlife encounters. Some of my favourite sightings included a leopard sleeping in a tree in Yala National Park, elephants rolling in a mud bath, and a sloth bear with her cub searching through the bushes for food. The accommodations were all excellent, and we had a wonderful time throughout the trip. Every hotel treated us exceptionally well and always went the extra mile to provide outstanding hospitality once they learned we were guests of Roar & Rove. It was clear that the company is highly respected across the country and has great relationships everywhere they operate.Show more

The safari was amazing. Everyone, from the driver to the hotel staff, was incredibly friendly and happy to chat about what you had seen but also respectful if you preferred some quiet time. I was able to see 4 out of Sri Lanka’s Big Five, along with so much more that I wasn’t expecting, which made the trip even more special. I didn’t get the chance to see blue whales, but I did spot sperm whales off the coast of Mirissa. I also spent time along the coast, where I went snorkeling and scuba diving. I was able to swim with turtles and see colorful fish over the coral reef, which was an unforgettable experience. I would definitely recommend Sri Lanka as a destination, and Roar & Rove as a company to book with.Show more

We had the best experience with Roar and Rove. From planning our two-week safari with Lahiru, who was very responsive and helpful, to the actual journey with our incredible guide, Kesara, everything was seamless. He truly made our experience unforgettable, knowledgeable, kind, and always attentive. We stayed at fabulous lodges and tented camps, each one unique and very cool. The accommodations were spectacular, and the food was excellent. We experienced some rain and a fair amount of overcast weather, which actually kept the temperatures pleasant. At times, the driving conditions were quite tricky and muddy. Many vehicles got stuck, especially in Yala but not us. Our safari driver was often the first to stop and help others, which really spoke to his character. I’d go back in a heartbeat and would absolutely choose Roar and Rove again.Show more

Sri Lanka is a naturally beautiful island. The people are warm, welcoming, mild-mannered, and very pleasant to be around. The wildlife in the parks is incredible. the beautiful bears, majestic elephants, elusive leopards, playful monkeys, and more. Our guide, Kesara, who took us around, was fantastic and went out of his way to ensure we enjoyed the game drives and got the best possible views and photo opportunities, along with the safari drivers in each park. He was also always very punctual, polite, and neatly attired. The accommodation at the lodges was very comfortable, with all modern amenities and a wide variety of delicious food. I absolutely recommend Roar & Rove as a tour company, and in particular Kesara as a guide. His knowledge of the parks and animal behaviour and that of the safari drivers we had in each park was extraordinary. We had wonderful accommodation, with excellent facilities and locations. There was a bit of a drive between each national park and our hotels, but I wouldn’t have missed either, so it was a small price to pay. Sri Lankans are super friendly, and at no time did we feel unsafe. Kesara took such great care of us. This is the first safari I have been on, but it is definitely not the last. Next time, I will take my children (16yo); however, some of the days are long, so I’m not sure younger children would cope. Next, we will be going to the home of safari, Africa to explore the animals we missed in Sri Lanka.Show more
