- Day 1
Lagos
You arrive in Lagos and have the freedom to check out the town at your own pace. The colorful harbor is worth wandering through, and the sandy beaches offer a nice spot to relax after your journey. The old town's lively alleyways have plenty of cafes and shops if you want to grab lunch or just walk around and get a feel for the place.

- Day 2
Lagos - Sagres - Figueira
Starting from Sagres, you'll hike the wild west coast with fragrant maquis underfoot and rocky paths leading through some really striking scenery. The route shows off glittering bays and rock formations in black, red, and yellow as you go. By afternoon, you'll reach the tranquil pathways with long sandy beaches and dramatic headlands before finishing in the small village of Figueira.

- Day 3
Burgau - Ponta da Piedade
From Burgau you head out on a coastal hike that keeps the sea in view the whole time. High cliffs and jagged rocky landscapes frame secluded bays with grottos as you walk along. The Atlantic sound and smell guide you toward a lighthouse that sits high above the cliffs of Ponta da Piedade, making for an impressive finish to the day.

Ferragudo - Carvoeiro - Praia da Marinha - Albufeira
The hike from Ferragudo takes you along impressive cliff paths with steep drops and hollow limestone formations. You'll pass hidden sandy beaches at Carvoeiro where there's a beach bar if you want to stop. From there the route crosses the famous seven hanging valleys with countless rock formations before you reach Praia da Marinha.

Albufeira - Faro
You walk along the beach through dunes and lagoons on winding paths through coastal nature reserves. Bird observation towers let you spot different species if you take time to look. The Ludo Trail takes you across a bridge to the island of Faro, a long sandy stretch perfect for a break to grab food or just sit for a bit.

- Day 6
Faro - Fuzeta - Tavira
After a short train ride to the fishing village of Fuzeta, you start hiking through glittering salt pans and small villages with colorful houses. Fruit groves line the banks of the Ria Formosa lagoon as you pass the Cemetery of Anchors. Later you walk along fine sandy beach to the island's northern end, and then a boat transfers you to Tavira, known locally as the Venice of the Algarve.

Tavira - Vila Real de Santo António
Today you follow the coast eastward toward the Algarve's eastern edge at the Spanish border. You hike over gentle dunes and through fragrant pine forests with pristine beaches in between. The route ends at the Rio Guadiana river mouth that separates Portugal from Spain, and you arrive in the charming village of Vila Real de Santo António with its historical character and interesting architecture.
