Itinerary
- Day 1
Kiel to Telemark Region
You'll arrive individually in Oslo, or if coming by ferry from Kiel, you'll dock at 10 a.m. From there, the drive takes you through Drammen and Kongsberg toward Telemark. On the way, you'll pass Notodden and see the Heddal stave church, then continue to Seljord and the Telemark Canal before finishing in the village of Rysstad. The whole journey covers around 300 km and takes about 4 hours.

Rysstad to Dirdal
You'll drive through Setesdal's wild mountain landscape, moving into the fjord country around Rogaland. The route takes you to Dirdal in the Lysefjord region, where a tunnel connects to the remote Frafjord on a side road that most travelers skip over. After settling in, you'll spend the night here in the heart of the Norwegian Fjord Experience.

Dirdal to Hardangerfjord
You'll take multiple ferry crossings today with fjord views throughout. Start with the ferry across Lysefjord, then move through the Ryfylke region where there's an optional hike to Preikestolen from Jørpeland (about 3 hours, moderate difficulty). After that, you'll take ferries across Hjelmeland, Åkrafjord, and Hardanger fjords. Stop at Rosendal to see its Baroniet gardens, then continue to the northern Hardangerfjord. This full day covers around 340 km and takes about 7.5 hours total.

Øystese to Balestrand
Start by heading to Øystese Church, a white wooden long church from 1868, then travel through the Ryfylke National Tourist Route. You'll stop at Tvindefossen waterfall and pass through the Vikafjellet mountains with views of Sognefjord spreading out below. Check out the medieval Hopperstad stave church in Vik, then take a ferry from Vangsnes to Dragsvik before continuing to Balestrand. This area's known for its Swiss-style villas and cultural heritage, including a former vacation spot of Kaiser Wilhelm II. You'll stay 2 nights in the Sognefjord region.

Balestrand
This is a free day in the Sognefjord region. If you want to do something, consider the scenic Gaularfjell panoramic road that runs along Sognefjord, or take a speedboat trip to Flåm and back. The Jostedalsbreen glacier is also worth a visit if you're interested in seeing it.

Balestrand to Loen
You'll drive along the north coast of Sognefjord to Sogndal, then head toward Fjærland where you can see a glacier from the road. Stop in the small town of Fjærland (about 30 minutes from Sogndal) to check out Børabreen glacier, which is an offshoot of Jostedalsbreen. The Norwegian Glacier Museum is optional if you want more information. From there, continue via Jølster to Loen. Around 165 km and 3 hours total.

Loen to Molde
Start with the Loen Skylift, one of the world's steepest cable cars, which climbs 1,100 meters in just 5 minutes with panoramic views. You can hike at the summit or have a meal at the restaurant. Later, take the Grotli mountain road and stop at Oppstrynsvatnet lake. There's an optional detour to Dalsnibba viewpoint at 1,476 m if you want views over Geirangerfjord. Explore the Geiranger UNESCO World Heritage village, then take either the Eagle Road or Trollstigen to Åndalsnes and Molde via ferry. The day covers around 310 km and takes about 6 hours.

- Day 8
Molde to Oppdal
Today you'll drive along the scenic Årsundfjord and Atlantic route through less-traveled coastal areas. You'll pass through Foldfjorden, Aure, Volden, and Kyrksæterøra. Continue via Meldal where you'll see Trollheimen mountain views, then head to Sunndalsøra, Dovrefjell, and Oppdal. Around 260 km and 4.5 hours of driving.

- Day 9
Oppdal to Lake Mjøsa Region
This morning you'll drive through Dovrefjell National Park, known as one of Norway's most famous mountain areas. The landscape is wild and you might see some of Europe's last musk oxen here. Stop at Snøhetta viewpoint at 2,286 m, where there's an easy 1.5 km gravel walk from the parking area near Hjerkinn. If you're interested, there's an optional stop in Dombås village in Gudbrandsdal valley. Around 260 km and 3.5 hours for the day.

Landmarks Dovrefjell National Park Snøhetta - Day 10
Lake Mjøsa Region to Oslo/Kiel
You'll travel along Lake Mjøsa heading back to Oslo. If you're returning via the Color Line ferry, check in at noon and depart at 2 p.m., arriving in Kiel the next morning at 10 a.m. Individual departure arrangements apply. Around 130 km and 2 hours to get there.
