Itinerary
- Day 1
Edinburgh to Isle of Islay
You'll leave Edinburgh in the early morning and drive through the Scottish Highlands toward the west. The route takes you through Trossachs National Park, where you can see the landscape shift as you head toward the coast. After that, you'll reach Oban, a working port town with views out to the islands. From there, the drive continues through Kilmartin Glen, where ancient menhirs and stone forts dot the countryside. Later in the afternoon, you'll head to Port Ellen and board the evening ferry to Islay. Once you arrive, settle into your accommodation in Bowmore for the next three nights.

- Day 2
Isle of Islay
This morning starts with a guided tour at Bowmore distillery, one of Scotland's oldest whisky producers, followed by a tasting. After that, you'll have flexibility to explore the island at your own pace, checking out scenic coastal views, white sandy beaches, and doing some short walks if you want. Later you'll head to Kilchoman Distillery for a tour and tasting of two different styles of whisky. Lunch happens together with the group, then it's on to Bunnahabhain distillery to try their unpeated whisky before heading back to Bowmore for the evening.

Isle of Islay
You'll explore the southern part of Islay today, where the whiskies tend to be smoky and heavily peated. Ardbeg distillery comes first for a guided tour and tasting, though if you're visiting on a weekend, you'll get access to the stillhouse with an additional tasting included. Next is Laphroaig, a distillery with 200 years of history and a whisky that happens to be a royal favorite. On the drive back to Bowmore, there's the option to stop at Kildalton Church ruins or Dunyvaig Castle ruins if you're interested in the island's history.

- Day 4
Isle of Islay to Edinburgh
You'll take the ferry from Port Ellen back to the mainland this morning, a crossing that takes around 2.5 hours. From there, the route heads through the Highlands alongside Loch Fyne toward the small town of Inveraray. If you want, you can visit Inveraray Castle or grab lunch in town before continuing. After that, you'll travel along Scotland's longest fjord and cross the Rest and be Thankful pass to reach Loch Lomond. Before heading back to Edinburgh, there's a stop in the conservation village of Luss on the western shore for a short walk through the sandstone buildings. You should arrive back in Edinburgh around 7 pm.
