  This was quite a good tour, and I would have rated it as excellent except for one issue -- but first the positives, which were numerous. The tour itinerary was excellent. I had literally waited years to find a tour that was comprehensive enough to cover all of my must-see sites in Greece and the Aegean Islands. The staff of Destination Services Greece are outstanding. Their photograph should appear when you Google the term "customer service". In particular, Vasileios worked miracles to fix problems that were MY fault. It is difficult to convey how good it feels to have someone truly supporting you when you're traveling--and how badly it feels if you don't have that kind of support. The food was good--mostly buffets--and most days we got breakfast and dinner. The main guide (Christina) was personable and informative, and did a good job keeping the group on time. Our driver Alexander was incredible, as he got a full-size bus through spots I wouldn't want to take a mid-size car. There were only two problematic issues, one relatively small and one significant. The small one is that the tour did not provide water on the bus. Having plenty of water was a big deal given it was 90-100 degrees F. Most tour companies I've used have provided water, so I've come to expect it. The bigger issue was the hotels at which I stayed. All but one was nice, and the only exception was in Thessaloniki where we got bumped from the first two hotel choices for some reason. Strange things happen, so that's understandable. What really bothered me about the hotels is that they were always a very long way --based on my experience with other tour companies--from the principal attractions. I am used to being within 5-10 minutes walking distance from such areas, but on this tour I was routinely at least 20 minutes (walking) and usually 30 minutes (walking) or more away from the things I came to see. That meant I either had to wear out my feet and use a lot of my time for walking or I had to pay extra for Uber trips. It didn't ruin the tour, but it meant that I got to experience less of what I came to see and do, as there were several times when I just gave up and stayed at the hotel instead of venturing out because I didn't want to walk so far or hassle with cabs. I'm sure the tour company saves money by using hotels further from the centers of attraction, but I would have paid more to be closer if I'd been given the choice. Note in case you are wondering: I paid the full cost of the tour (NOT a reduced rate in return for faraway hotel sites). All that being said, it was still a good tour and I enjoyed it considerably. There were significantly more positives than negatives, and were it not for the hotels being so far away I would have rated it as Excellent.Show more

  Overall, the tour was good. Our tour guide Maria was amazing. We paid extra to upgrade to the 4 star hotels, and still I’d say they were nothing more than a 3 star. Locations were not great, especially in Kalabaka and Olympia. There was nowhere that you could go to town on foot in the evening, in those 2 towns. Hotels were so isolated. Also the dinners included for the three nights in Olympia, Delphi, and Kalabaka were not great. It was just that mass produced buffet food. And because it was the same hotel chain for all 3 towns it was the exact same buffet dinner every night. And then because the hotels were so isolated it’s not like you could even go to town to pick up something else to eat. Another suggestion would be to reconsider some of the restaurants that we are taken to at lunchtime. With the exception of one of them, the others were rather gross with overpriced buffet options, and clearly tourist trap restaurants. But again, our tour guide and driver were excellent, and the tours and daily excursions were great.Show more
