Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Porto

    You'll arrive at Porto airport and head to your hotel in the historic city centre. The medieval neighbourhoods here are part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so there's a lot to take in. Plan to walk through the Ribeira area with its narrow streets and riverside views, then check out the Port wine cellars where you can learn about how the wine gets produced and aged. By evening, you'll have dinner at one of the local restaurants, many of which offer traditional Portuguese cuisine.

    Your cycling adventure starts today as you leave Porto and follow the Atlantic coast. The route takes you through woods and pine forests with ocean breezes throughout. You'll stop at local spots along the way to try fresh seafood, which is a highlight of this region. The pace is steady and gives you time to take in the natural landscape.

    Today's route goes through lagoons and canals with Terra Nova's colourful striped houses appearing along the way. You'll pass traditional wooden palheiros structures lining the Mira canal as you cycle. The landscape includes protected dunes that create a scenic backdrop. By the end of the day, you reach Figueira da Foz where a long sandy beach stretches out for swimming or just relaxing after cycling.

The route passes through pine groves and eventually leads to São Pedro do Moel, where distinctive rocky cliffs meet a small bay. From there, you continue to Nazaré, a fishing village that's known around the world for its massive winter waves. The village itself has traditional charm and working fishing boats.

The Jerónimos Monastery and Belém Tower are significant landmarks that show Portugal's maritime history. The Tagus River runs through the city, and you'll find a mix of old architecture alongside modern buildings, especially as you walk along the waterfront.
