Itinerary
- Day 1
Islamabad to Skardu
You'll leave Islamabad early in the morning and drive north through some really dramatic mountain scenery on your way to Skardu. The drive takes you through rugged terrain, but it's worth it. Once you arrive, you'll head straight to Katpana Cold Desert to walk around those unusual sand dunes in this high-altitude setting. Later in the afternoon, you'll get on a boat at Upper Kachura Lake for a peaceful time on the water. Before heading back, there's time to wander the gardens at Shangrila Resort and check out Manthal Buddha Rock with its ancient carvings. You'll finish the day watching the sunset from Sadpara Lake.

- Day 2
Skardu
This morning starts with an action-packed trip into Sarfaranga Desert where you'll do some dune bashing and take camel rides across the sand. After that, you'll drive to Shigar to explore the 17th-century Shigar Fort, which has really detailed woodwork throughout the structure. You'll also stop at the 14th-century Amburiq Mosque to see the serene atmosphere there. By evening, you'll head back to Skardu, so plan for a long but varied day.

- Day 3
Skardu to Khaplu
The journey to Khaplu takes you through some nice scenery, and you'll stop to see Mantokha Waterfall as water cascades down the mountainside. Once you get there, Khaplu Fort sits up on a hill and gives you panoramic views of the valley below. The fort itself is worth spending time exploring. Afterward, you'll visit Chaqchan Mosque from the 14th century, which has beautiful wooden architecture and craftsmanship that really stands out.

- Day 4
Khaplu to Skardu
You'll start by visiting the Sailing Fish Farm to learn how they manage aquaculture sustainably in Skardu's waters, and it's an interesting look at local practices. From there, you'll head to the village of Barah where you can see how locals live in traditional stone houses with terraced fields around them. You'll have a chance to talk with villagers and get a feel for daily life in the area. Later in the day, you'll drive back to Skardu.

Skardu to Islamabad
After having breakfast, you'll catch your domestic flight back to Islamabad. When you land, you'll have free time to walk around the capital city, where you can see both modern areas and historic sites. The markets are busy and worth checking out if you want to do some last-minute shopping or just soak in the atmosphere before you depart Pakistan.
