  1. Day 1

    Seattle

    Your adventure starts in Seattle with an overnight stay. If you arrive early, there's plenty to do around the city. Head to the Seattle Aquarium to watch sea otters and get a look at the giant Pacific octopus. Olympic Sculpture Park is right there too if you want to walk around and take in views of Puget Sound. Pike Place Market is worth checking out for its lively atmosphere and those vendors famous for throwing fish around.

  2. Day 2

    Seattle to Nome

    You'll fly from Seattle to Nome, where your expedition cruise kicks off. This town sits at the tip of the Seward Peninsula overlooking the Bering Sea. Nome has deep roots in Gold Rush history and marks the endpoint for several of Roald Amundsen's polar expeditions, including his 1926 attempt to reach the North Pole by air.

  3. Day 3

    At Sea

    After boarding your expedition ship, your first day at sea focuses on getting settled. Attend talks from the expedition team about what's ahead during the voyage. Wander through the onboard library and Science Center at your own pace. Spend time on deck watching for whales and seabirds as the ship moves through the water.

  4. Day 4

    St. Matthew Island

    St. Matthew Island comes into view today, sitting about 200 miles from the nearest village as part of the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge. The black sand beaches and wildflower-dotted tundra create a wild, remote setting. Thousands of puffins, murres, and cormorants call this place home, plus the rare McKay's bunting that breeds almost nowhere else.

    St. Paul Island

    You'll visit St. Paul, the largest of the Pribilof Islands with around 480 members of the Unangan community living there. Check out historical barabaras, the traditional underground dwellings used for centuries. Look for horned and tufted puffins, the Pribilof sandpiper, the rare red-legged kittiwake, and northern fur seals lounging on the shore.

    Bering Sea Cruise

    The ship continues south across the Bering Sea toward Dutch Harbor. Your expedition team will keep preparing you with more lectures about upcoming destinations. Scan the seas and skies for puffins, auklets, murrelets, and the rare red-legged kittiwake as you travel. Later, relax in the Explorer Lounge and Bar, use the infinity pool, or soak in the outdoor hot tubs with panoramic views.

  7. Day 7

    Dutch Harbor

    Dutch Harbor appears as you arrive at America's largest fishing port. Mount Makushin, an occasionally steaming volcano reaching almost 6,000 feet, rises in the distance. Visit the Museum of the Aleutians to learn about the Indigenous Unungan people. Tour the Russian Orthodox Cathedral and check out the WWII museum. Keep watch for bald eagles, puffins, foxes, lemmings, wild horses, whales, sea lions, and porpoises.

    Unga Village

    Unga Village sits abandoned on the southern end of Unga Island, originally settled by Aleuts in 1833 but abandoned in 1969. A few wooden buildings remain surrounded by wildflowers including pink lousewort and fireweed. You'll experience this eerie beauty during a nature landing using small expedition boats, getting up close to this forgotten place.

The team will walk you through the region's geological evolution and what shaped this unique topography.

    Katmai National Park

    Katmai National Park covers four million acres with over a dozen active volcanoes and home to more than 2,000 protected brown bears, the largest concentration anywhere. An experienced bear guard accompanies you as you search for bears foraging for berries, digging for clams, or catching fish in streams. Depending on conditions, you'll visit Geographic Harbor, Kinak Bay, or Kukak Bay.

You'll search for these powerful creatures in their natural habitat from small expedition boats, getting a rare look at their lives set against Alaska's rugged landscape.

    At Sea

Settle into the Explorer Lounge and Bar with fellow guests and watch for three species of North Pacific albatross.

    Icy Bay

    Icy Bay brings three glaciers into view, Guyot, Yahtse, and Tyndall, all regularly calving into the water. Depending on conditions, you'll explore in small expedition boats or kayak through this remarkable icy landscape. Watch for humpback whales, orcas, Stellar sea lions, sea otters, and harbor seals resting on floating ice.

    Sitka appears, surrounded by Tongass National Forest and only reachable by sea or air. Views of the Sisters Mountains and Mount Edgecumbe volcano frame the town. Visit the Russian Orthodox Cathedral and Russian Bishop's House. See Haida and Tlingit totem poles at Sitka National Historical Park and take forest trails that lead down to the ocean.

    You'll head toward Wrangell and check out Petroglyph Beach just outside town, where ancient rock carvings sit among the sand. Visit the local museum to learn how Wrangell changed hands under British, Russian, and Tlingit governance. Cross to Shakes Island to see the Chief Shakes Tribal House and totem poles. If you like hiking, nature trails at the Stikine River mouth and Mount Dewey's rainforest edge are available.

Join the expedition team in small boats or kayaks, weather permitting, to scout for mountain goats, black and brown bears, and moose on land. Watch the waters and sky for Pacific salmon, otters, sea lions, harbor seals, orcas, dolphins, herons, and bald eagles.

    The Inside Passage stretches over 930 miles as a protected coastal route through great North American Pacific Fjordland. Your smaller expedition vessel allows daytime viewing of the scenery and access to channels larger cruise ships skip. Keep cameras and binoculars ready to spot whales including humpback, fin, minke, and possibly orca.
