We had a really good time on our visit to the Philppines, utilising a slightly modified "Phillipines: First Time Traveller" programme. It semed to have been well planned and mostly worked like clockwork - transfers, flights (although two of these were delayed) and accommodation all came together well. In retrospect, we might have been better off going to another island than Borocay which is proably better suited to younger people (eg Puerto Princesa), although we still enjoyed it there. The hotels we were allocated were a mixed bunch, but generally good. The best thing about the ten days was the people - everywhere we went we were met by helpful, friendly, welcoming people.Show more

I would realistically give the tour 3.5 out of 5. It is not a “tour” as such, just a series of bookings made by the tour company - hotels, trains and activities. We had to be very alert and in control of timings but everything went smoothly. Regarding the hotels: the Osaka hotel (Toyoko Inn Kyobashi Sakuranomiya) was serviceable but pretty basic, the bed was the hardest I’ve ever slept on and breakfast was not good. The hotels in Kyoto (OMO3) and Hiroshima (Daiwa Roynet) were better, particularly the OMO3. In Hiroshima we had a non-smoking room but it had clearly been smoked in before. We enjoyed our walking tour of Osaka and the Hiroshima e-bike tour was probably the highlight. However, the Kyoto bus tour was very disappointing - unfortunately our guide spoke zero English (we had an English audio guide on the bus but once off the bus, it was self guided) - perhaps a different company would be an improvement for foreign visitors. All the bullet train bookings went smoothly. I booked the tour for myself and my family as a framework for our trip to Japan, however going forward I would now have the confidence to organise the same thing myself with the ability to evaluate the accommodation and activities better, not to mention get everything for a lower cost. However, the team from VIO travel were very helpful and available with information and also put us in direct contact with some of the local activity operators.Show more

Payment information
- For any tour departing before June 14th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after June 14th, 2026, a minimum payment of 20% is required to confirm your booking with Vio Travel. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
- Some departure dates and prices may vary and Vio Travel will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
