- Days 1 - 2
Oslo
You'll arrive in Oslo and get settled at your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to explore at whatever pace feels right. Karl Johan street has plenty of shops and cafes if you want to grab something to eat and people-watch, or head over to Frogner Park where there's a whole collection of sculptures to walk through. The city's got this nice mix of urban energy and natural surroundings with forests and the Oslofjord right there.

- Day 3
Oslo - Flåm - Balestrand
After breakfast, you'll head to the train station for a scenic journey toward the fjords. The route takes you through countryside and mountains across Hardangervidda plateau before reaching Myrdal. From there, you switch to the Flaamsbana railway, which drops dramatically down through mountains and glacier-fed valleys into Flaam. Later you'll cruise across the Sognefjord to Balestrand, a small village where you're staying at Midtnes Hotel. If you've got energy, the St. Olaf stave church is there to check out.

- Day 4
Balestrand
This morning after breakfast, you can spend time exploring Balestrand itself and the surrounding area. Walking and hiking trails head up into the mountains if that appeals to you, or you can just wander around the village and take in the fjord views at a relaxed pace. By afternoon, you'll board a 4-hour cruise across the Sognefjord. The waterway opens up gradually and takes you through the Bergen archipelago before arriving in the evening.

- Day 5
Bergen
You've got the whole day to check out Bergen on your own terms. Bryggen is the historic harbor district with wooden buildings from the Hanseatic period that you can walk through and explore the alleyways. The fish market is close by and worth a browse. For views across the city and its seven hills, take the funicular up Mount Floien and you'll see everything spread out below you.

Bergen
Spend more time in Bergen if there's anything you missed the day before. Later in the evening, you'll head to the dock to board the Hurtigruten coastal express. This ship has been running this route between Bergen and Kirkenes every single day since 1893, staying close to the Norwegian coast the entire way. You'll settle into your outside cabin and get ready for several days at sea.

Landmarks Norwegian Coast - Day 7
Geirangerfjord
When you wake up, the Hurtigruten is heading through the Geirangerfjord and it's something to see from the deck. You'll pass waterfalls including the Seven Sisters and the Veil of the Bride, plus abandoned farmhouses clinging to the steep cliffs. Early afternoon, you disembark in the village of Geiranger itself. It's small and quiet, surrounded by one of Norway's most beautiful fjords that's recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Geiranger - Ålesund
After breakfast, the Hurtigruten takes you back through the Geirangerfjord early in the afternoon, then continues north to Alesund. This city stands out because of its Art Nouveau architecture, most of it rebuilt in that style after a major fire destroyed the area in 1904. You'll have the evening to walk around and see the distinctive buildings that make the place feel different from other Norwegian towns.
