Puerto Montt to Puerto Varas
You'll touch down at Puerto Montt Airport where someone from your accommodation will meet you for the transfer to Puerto Varas. After getting settled in, the afternoon and evening are open for you to walk around town and get your bearings at your own pace.

Osorno Volcano & Llanquihue Lake
Start early heading out to experience the gateway into Patagonia. From Puerto Varas, you'll travel around Llanquihue Lake toward Ensenada, then make your way up to the Osorno Volcano Ski and Mountain Center sitting at 1,240 meters elevation. Spend roughly an hour taking in the panoramic views of the surrounding mountain range, the full stretch of Llanquihue Lake, and when the weather cooperates, you can see the Pacific Ocean off in the distance.

This day focuses on the German colonial heritage throughout the lake region. You'll start in Llanquihue and follow the lake shore to Frutillar, a town known for its colorful German-style homes and gardens with views of both the lake and Osorno Volcano. There's time to check out the Lake Theater or grab tea with traditional German pastries. After that, head to Octay Port where you'll see spectacular views of the lake basin and some well-maintained German colonial buildings.
