Akaroa
You'll travel to Akaroa, a small town with colonial architecture and a really nice harbor setting. Spend a few hours walking around, checking out galleries and cafés. Then you'll take a nature cruise on the harbor where you might see fur seals, white-flippered penguins, and dolphins. You'll get back to Christchurch in the late afternoon with the evening free.

Christchurch to Queenstown

Milford Sound
You'll take a full-day motorcoach trip to Milford Sound. The drive goes along Lake Wakatipu to Te Anau, then through Eglinton Valley past Mirror Lakes and through Homer Tunnel. Once you reach Milford Sound, you'll join a cruise to see waterfalls, dolphins, penguins, and dramatic scenery. You'll return to Queenstown late this evening.
