This tour is very complete and takes you to the most important highlighs in Vietnam and Thailand. We have enjoyed this tour and we were pleased with the outcome. However, one downside of such an extensive program in just a couple of weeks is that you end up not spending as much time as you would like in each of the destinations. About the accommodation, all the hotels were 4-stars as promised, and most of them had swimming pools, although some had some minor inconveniences e.g. noisy fridges or a/c systems, and bugs in the more jungly ones. The transportation in Vietnam was adequate, although in Thailand we felt like a lot of time could have been saved if we took a flight from the south to the north instead of driving all the way, as some of the trips between destinations were above 5 hours. Our guide in Vietnam, Mr. Duy, was very knowledgeable, open-minded, cheerful, and flexible. He gave us good suggestions for food and for places to visit, and when the group asked to visit the Golden Hands Bridge, even though he advised against it for lack of time, he contacted the office and found a cheap way to do so to satisfy our demands. He also made the tour specially personal by telling us his own life stories from e.g. when he was living in Hue as a student, always with a genuine smile on his face. An amazing guide. On the other hand, our guide in Thailand, Ms. Teerarat A, although very knowledgeable in Bangkok, seemed to be a little unprepared for the rest of the tour, frequently being unable to answer our questions and memorizing information from a guide book on the way to the destination (probably because of english difficulties). She also insisted on taking pictures of us all the time, which was nice, even though the pictures were quite lacking. Nevertheless, she made the tour special in the sense that we stopped in various local markets to try typical snacks, and she made the tour interactive by not only visiting the places included in the tour but also participating in local activities, e.g. taking us to make offerings to the monks and trying the buddhist fortune telling sticks. The only thing we did not enjoy about this tour was the visit to the Long Neck Karen Village in Chiang Rai, Thailand. This place is basically a human zoo, where the indigenous people who were moved from their original villages are forced to work by selling souvenirs and performing to the tourists. After asking a few questions we realized that these people are refugees from Myanmar who are forced to stay in that community working for the government of Thailand, but the earnings are not even for themselves. Overall, it is human exploration. We strongly suggest that you make your own independent research about this place and decide wether you really want to contribute to this. Personally, we would have skipped if we had known beforehand what to expect.Show more
