    Asked on February 2nd, 2026

Could you please let me know if you are able to cater for vegans? I'd also love to know about how much time is spent travelling on buses and what the average age is.

We are pleased to confirm that vegan meal options can be arranged. This dietary preference simply needs to be advised in advance so it can be coordinated with the hotels and restaurants included in the itinerary.

Regarding travel time by bus, transfers are spread throughout the itinerary and correspond to the different regions visited:

San José – Tortuguero (Day 2): This is one of the longest travel days, with an early departure and several hours of land transfer, including a stop for breakfast, followed by a boat transfer into Tortuguero.

Tortuguero – Arenal (Day 4): Includes a boat transfer out of Tortuguero, lunch in Guápiles, and then a land transfer to the Arenal area.

Arenal – Guanacaste (Day 6): A land transfer of several hours to reach the Pacific coast.

Guanacaste – San José (Day 8): Return transfer to the capital for the final night.

All transfers include planned stops and are designed to be as comfortable as possible.

As for the average age of participants, this varies with each departure and cannot be guaranteed. However, groups typically consist of travelers between approximately 30 and 60 years old, including couples, friends, and solo travelers.

      TravelerWritten February 2022

the optional tour will be in the night of day 6 or days 7 when I stayed in Guanacaste, isn't it? In this tour it's not includ monteverde, may I have enough time to take an excursion to see monteverde cloud forest during this tour?

    • Receptivo Aborigen ToursOperatorWritten February 2022

1- the optional tour will be in the night of day 6 or days 7 when I stayed in Guanacaste, upon season and plancton and tides. 2- you need to add extra night in monteverde but you may arrive 11 am and might be short for the visit, so 2 choices 1) 2 extra nights in monteverde not to rush upon arrival, adding 300 u$ each 2) adding private transfers to get early and one night in monteverde 280 u$ each
