- HAHaya· September 15th, 2023Amazing tour! I got to see everything that I wanted and all the spots were stunning. We had plenty of time and I did not feel rushed at all. Our guide Martina was so incredible and knowledgeable. All our hotel stays were great and the dinner was very well presented. Highly recommend.Show more
GJ Travel commented on this reviewThank you so much for this great review. We are delighted to hear that you were happy with the tour and you had such a wonderful time! All the best from Iceland, Team GJ Travel.Trip date: August 2023 - LLLesley· June 26th, 2018I am very happy with the tour overall. In general the itinerary was very good to excellent except 1) the lava cave tour on Day 3 - The cave was very small and dark. It was difficult to see. 2) The micro-brewery tour on Day 7 - the guided tour was too brief and not enough beer tasting or demonstration of the beer making. Transportation was good in general but there was one occasion we thought we were going to be stuck for a few hours up on the snow capped mountain in the late afternoon. However, our tour guide Mimir was able to contact someone and was advised to continue driving to our destination. He had the problem looked at and got his answer the next morning before we left the hotel. In general the accommodation was very good except the 1st and last night. Most hotels had the room overheated and the room temperature is not adjustable. The best hotel was Fosshotel on Day 10. Meals - Most breakfasts were good to very good. The best breakfast was the Fosshotel on Day 11 morning. Most dinners were good to very good. I loved the main course at Icelandair Hotel Hamar, Borgarnes. Guide - Mimir had given us one to three extra sightseeings most days. He was helpful and friendly but he is not a detailed person. He didn't give us any maps or GJ Travel's hand outs until Day 6. It was difficult for me to follow his explanation as I had problem to remember the Icelandic name of places he had told us. Luckily I started collecting the map and information from Day 4. The map I picked up helped me understood/remembered the places we had visited.Show more
GJ Travel commented on this reviewThank you so much for this review. We are delighted to hear that you were happy with the tour! We hope to see you again in Iceland some day. All the best from Iceland, Team GJ TravelTrip date: June 2018 - ECEd· September 8th, 2017GJ Travel is a travel company that does a bait and switch on the hotel rooms during the tour. On the Grand Tour of Iceland, we were given a list of hotels at the start of the trip and during the trip we were switched 2 nights to a very low-class substitute with even worst food. We were not told of the switch until we reached the substitute hotel and only then became aware of the switch when we could not do anything about it. The reason for the change we were told is that the listed hotels were full and they could not take us. I have been on over 40 foreign trips including a prior trip to Iceland and have never had this happen to me before. Any reputable travel company pays for the rooms to the hotel before the trip to assure rooms for their guests. To make up for this low-class substitution, we got a free dinner in a pizza parlor and lunch at a beach side hamburger stand. I am sure the tour company pocketed the difference between the listed hotels and the cheap substitutes that we were provided. Avoid this tour company if you are going to Iceland!Show more
GJ Travel commented on this reviewDear Ed, Thank you for your feedback. The unexpected change of hotel happened due to the original hotels being fully booked and keeping our reservation on a waiting list.
