Praia
After landing at Nelson Mandela International Airport, your travel representative will meet you holding a sign with your name. You'll get a private transfer to your accommodation in Praia with full security and professional service. Your team will fill you in on everything about your stay and what to expect.

Cidade Velha - Praia
Following breakfast, you'll head to the small village of Calabaceira for a hiking trail through a green valley known for baobab trees and history. At a local rum-making distillery, you'll meet farmers and learn how they grow sugar cane, mango, cassava and bananas. Then to Cidade Velha, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you can walk through the São Francisco Convent, Banana Street, Nossa Senhora do Rosário church, and Pilourinho. After lunch at a seafront restaurant, you'll see the ruins of the Sé Catedral and the Royal Fortress of São Filipe.

Serra Malagueta Natural Park - Tarrafal Beach - Praia
Start at the traditional Assomada Market watching locals and browsing the vibrant stalls. Then head to Serra Malagueta Natural Park for trekking through the landscapes, where you'll see over 124 plant species and 19 bird species. During lunch in the forest, your guide shares details about the local flora and fauna. Later you'll have free time to relax at Tarrafal Beach before returning to Praia.

São Filipe - Chã das Caldeiras
After breakfast, you'll transfer to Nelson Mandela International Airport for a 35-minute domestic flight to Fogo Island. In São Filipe, the island's capital, you can walk around and see the charming colorful colonial houses called Sobrados. You'll visit the small Municipal Museum for local history, then head inland to Achada Furna and Cabeça Fundão to learn about houses submerged by the 2014 volcanic eruption. At Chã das Caldeiras National Park, you'll get views of the active volcano and Cape Verde's highest mountain, and enjoy lunch with some of the world's best local wines.

- Day 5
Pico do Fogo Volcano Trek - Chã das Caldeiras
Your guide picks you up and you'll walk to the foot of the Fogo volcano. Climbing begins with your guide setting the pace to match your fitness level. After 3 hours, you'll reach Pico do Fogo at 2,829 meters, Cape Verde's highest mountain and the third highest in the Atlantic Ocean. Enjoy a picnic at the peak with 360-degree views over Fogo Island. Then comes the thrilling descent down steep volcanic ash slopes, sinking knee-high in Lapilli for an unforgettable experience.

Mosteiros Trek - São Filipe
Your hotel pickup starts a hiking adventure through the north's protected forest and descent paths. You'll cross the steep northeast side of the volcano with views of neighboring Santiago Island. Walking through small residences built on lava rock terraces, you'll pass banana, orange and coffee plantations. After passing by Pai António, you'll arrive at Mosteiros, known for coffee, grape, cotton and purgueira crops. Following lunch in a local setting, you'll transfer to Salinas de São José natural pool for a refreshing dip if the weather allows, then head to São Filipe for the night.

Plateau Historical Center
After breakfast at your accommodation, you'll have free time based on your flight schedule. Check out and transfer to Fogo Airport for your return flight to Santiago. Once at Praia Airport, you'll transfer to the City Center for lunch. The Plateau district offers a walking tour through Jaime Mota Military Barracks, past the Presidential Palace and Alexandre Albuquerque Square. Visit the Municipal Market to meet locals and see local fruits and vegetables. In the evening, head to a local restaurant for live music and Katxupa, Cape Verde's famous slow-cooked stew of corn, beans, cassava, sweet potato, fish or meat.
