Itinerary
- Day 1
Vamos
You'll arrive at either Chania or Heraklion airport and make your way to Vamos by cab or public transport. The afternoon is yours to explore the village at your own pace, getting a feel for the local rhythm and landscape that'll be your base for the next few days.

Apokoronas
Start with a relaxed hike through the Apokoronas landscape, walking through several villages and passing by a monastery and small churches. You'll see the oldest olive press in western Crete along the way. It's an easier first day to help you adjust to the terrain and get familiar with the area you'll be hiking through.

- Day 3
Nippos to Askifou Plain
Head out on a circular route near Nippos village, surrounded by cypresses and olive groves with the snow-covered Lefka Ori mountains visible in the distance. After finishing the hike, you'll take a cab to your accommodation on the Askifou plain in the White Mountains, getting higher into the terrain for the next phase.

- Day 4
Sfakia Mountains
This is the challenging day. You'll climb to 1,300 meters with views of peaks over 2,000 meters high, some still snow-covered if you're there in spring. The area is remote with no villages, though you might encounter shepherds. Your descent follows an old forest path with occasional views back down to the Askifou plain.

- Day 5
Imbros Gorge to Chora Sfakion
A short transfer gets you to Imbros village where you can grab supplies before hiking through the Imbros Gorge, Crete's second most famous gorge with sections only 1.60 meters wide. You'll continue through Komitades village and across fields, then through the Sfakiano Gorge to reach Chora Sfakion on the Libyan coast. End your day with a refreshing swim in the sea.

- Day 6
Chora Sfakion to Loutro
Hike through the Ilingas Gorge to the authentic village of Anopoli where you can stop for traditional sfakiana pitas (pancakes with creamy goat's cheese and honey) at a kafenio. Later you'll hike to Loutro, a car-free village nestled in a small round bay accessible only by ferry. Beautiful sea views accompany your descent, and you'll spend the next two nights here.

Landmarks Ilingas Gorge Anopoli Loutro - Day 7
Aradena Gorge and Coastal Path
Zigzag up to Anopoli and continue to Aradena, a striking ghost village overlooking the impressive Aradena Gorge. You'll descend into the gorge and follow it toward the coast, then return to Loutro via the coastal path. Or if you prefer, take the shorter 4-hour route through Livaniana village instead. Depending on your flight tomorrow, you might need to take the ferry back to Chora Sfakion and continue onward today.
