- Day 1
Faro to Tavira
You'll arrive in Faro and transfer to the coastal town of Tavira. Spend the afternoon on the sandy beach, then walk through the town center to see some interesting buildings. Before wrapping up, check out the local fish market to get a feel for what's fresh and what people eat around here.

Landmarks Tavira Fish Market - Day 2
Cacela Velha - Cabanas - Tavira
This morning you'll start a leisurely coastal hike from the old village of Cacela Velha. The path takes you along secluded routes toward Cabanas, a fishing village where you can watch boats coming and going and grab lunch. After that, you'll head back to Tavira by walking through salt ponds where you might see wild animals if you're lucky.

- Day 3
Ceramic Tile Valley Hike
Today's hike takes you through a valley where ceramic tiles have been made for generations. You'll walk past vegetable patches and orchards with olive, carob, almond, and fig trees as you move through the landscape. The route then opens up to lemon and orange gardens, and later you'll pass through flower meadows with their own character. The full hike covers about 15 km and takes around 4.5 hours, so plan for a full morning and early afternoon of walking.

Tavira
You have the day to yourself. Either stay at the hotel and relax, or head out to explore more of Tavira on your own. If you want to get out, the Reserva Natural do Sapal nature reserve is worth visiting for flamingos and bird watching, which can be really good depending on the season.

Altura to Vila Real de Santo António
Starting from Altura, you'll hike along the coast toward the Spanish border. The route goes through pine forests on narrow winding paths, then opens up onto pristine beaches. You'll walk all the way to the mouth of the Rio Guadiana and finish up in Vila Real de Santo António, a charming town with a lot of history and some nice architecture to walk around.

Fuzeta to Tavira Coastal Hike
Starting in Fuzeta, a fishing village on Tavira's western side, you'll head out on a hike that moves through salt pools and past small villages where colorful houses and gardens line the route. Throughout the walk, there are opportunities to stop at local cafes positioned along the Ria's calm banks for a rest and something to drink. This 16 km walk takes about 4 hours total, giving you time to take things at a comfortable pace and soak in the surroundings.

Tavira Island and Ria Formosa
Your last hiking day in the Algarve brings you to Tavira island and some of the region's nicest sandy beaches, plus the large Ria Formosa nature reserve. You'll walk along the beaches and through small fishing villages like Santa Luzia, where you can see fishing boats sitting in the canal waters. The route covers approximately 17 km over around 3.5 hours, so you'll be finished by early afternoon with time to reflect on your hiking days here.
