- Day 1
Marsala
You'll arrive in Marsala and have the afternoon to yourself. Take some time walking the marble-paved streets, poking around the baroque churches, and watching locals move between the different piazzas. It's a good chance to get oriented and find a spot for dinner.

- Day 2
Marsala
Head north along the coast toward the Inversa Salt Flats, where you'll find shallow coastal lakes dotted with old windmills and birds passing through. The salt museum gives you context for what you're seeing, then you'll spend about 3 hours on foot exploring the area and taking in the landscape.

Marsala to Buseto Palizzolo
Leave the coast and drive inland through rolling countryside with pastures and wheat fields. The landscape shifts with the seasons, turning from green to yellow to ochre shades. You'll pass half-ruined farmhouses scattered across sparsely populated terrain, then settle into a family-run agriturismo near Segesta where you'll stay the next two nights.

- Day 4
Buseto Palizzolo
You'll visit the ancient city of Segesta, where a remarkably preserved unfinished Doric temple from the 5th century BC sits on a hilltop overlooking a deep ravine. Walk up past structures from different time periods to reach the ancient Greek theater carved into the rock. After that, you can either head to the hot springs for a soak or relax by the farm's pool.

Buseto Palizzolo to Trapani
After crossing a few more hills, you'll descend toward Trapani on the coast where you'll stay two nights. On the way, stop at the hilltop town of Erice, which locals say was founded by Trojans fleeing their homeland and once had a major temple to Aphrodite. In the afternoon, either walk around Trapani's pedestrian streets in the old center or take the cable car up to Erice.

Trapani to Favignana Island
A short boat ride gets you to Favignana, the largest of the Aegadian Islands sitting 7 km off the west coast and known for tuna fishing. You'll drive flat coastal roads with turquoise water on one side, stopping at secluded beaches. The village square is great for watching people and soaking in the quiet island pace.

Trapani
