- Day 1
Paro
You'll land at Paro airport where your Bhutanese guide meets you right at arrivals. They'll help you through customs and then drive you to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to settle in, freshen up, and adjust to the altitude and time difference.

- Day 2
Punakha - Gangtey
From your hotel, you'll drive 90 kilometers toward Gangtey with a stop at Dochula Pass for tea and snacks while taking in the views of the eastern Himalayan ranges. After that, the drive continues to Punakha, where you'll see Punakha Dzong sitting between two rivers. Then it's on to Gangtey at 3000 meters elevation, surrounded by rolling hills and snowcapped peaks. Before settling in, you'll visit Gangtey Gompa, the only Nyingmapa Monastery on the western side of the Black Mountains.

Gogona
This morning marks the start of the Gangtey Trek, a 16 km walk covering 5 to 6 hours (ponies available if you prefer). The trail takes you through meadows and fields, then into mixed forests with juniper, bamboo, magnolia and rhododendron. By day's end, you'll climb to Tselela Pass at 3320 meters.

Landmarks Tselela Pass - Day 4
Khotokha
From Gogona village, the trek continues upward through forests of fir, oak, spruce, rhododendron, cypress and juniper. It's a long and gradual climb to Shobju-la Pass at 3,400 meters (11,155 feet). After reaching the pass, the trail drops into the wide valley of Khotokha, a summer grazing area for people from the Sha region.

Wangduephodrang - Punakha
The final trekking stage includes a short climb to a pass followed by a steep descent through changing vegetation zones until you reach the bridge at Wangduephodrang. From there, a 30-minute drive takes you to Punakha where the trek officially ends.

- Day 6
Thimpu
You'll spend the day exploring the Wangduephodrang and Punakha valleys, then head to Thimpu. During your time there, check out the Folk Heritage Museum, National Textile Museum, Handicrafts Emporium, and a papermaking factory. Some time is also set aside for wandering through local markets to pick up anything you might have missed.

Departure
After an early breakfast, you'll head to the airport for your departure flight. Druk Air typically takes off early in the morning to avoid weather issues at higher elevations.
