We love Buddha so we visited all the Buddhist destinations in India and Nepal with Alkof holidays this February, and it was an amazing tour, the driver Mr. Pandey was very experienced and he knew all the routes, and all the key attractions. Our tour guide Avinash was very knowledgeable, and he told many things about each destination we visited. All the hotels provided were very good, staff were very nice, and Sanjeev from there office in Delhi helped us a lot in customizing the tour to our need. He is very experienced in Buddhis tour, even he met us in Lumbini when we arrived, he came there with a group also doing the same tour. I can recommend this tour to anybody looking to visit India. Just 1 thing you should remember is that we spend around 4 to 5 hrs on immigration from India to Nepal, and approx same time coming back, because there were many people before us, but alkof helped us everywhere and it was a very smooth journey. We preferred Buddist Pilgrimage and visited main 8 destinations connected to Budda's life, including Lumbini, Shravasti, Bodhgaya, Sarnatkh, Sankassa, Vaishali and Kushinagar. Tour assistant Sanjeev Kumar was extremely helpful, trying to fulfill all our requests regarding tour itinerary, and very thoutful and caring throughout our tour. Bus driver Shyambir along with his assistant Pawan were also very pleasant, the bus was always clean and neat. Altoghether the crew was very prepared and they knew every single detail about Buddist pilgrimage itinerary. It is also worth mentioning that they surprised us with greeting and farewell presents. Highly recommend Alkofholidays for India tour as well as their other destinations.Show more

This was a good tour. However, I would warn future travelers that this is not a fully escorted tour. You will have a driver (who may not may not be fluent in English) and then different local tour guides at each destination. I would also warn that you will spend A LOT of time in a car driving down very bumpy roads through the heart of India - this tour is not for the faint of heart! I am not sure that the company fully vetted the Buddhist Tour with Taj before we went on the trip, as we went to two different boarder crossing before being allowed into Nepal, and the two previous attempts were very unnerving when the military questioned us. Also, the driver did an amazing job, but it was clear that he had never done the trip before, because he stopped and asked strangers on the street to give him directions to the attractions on the itinerary. I feel like the tour company should have done a little more research, or set a full-time tour guide with us on this itinerary.Show more

However, there are a few points that we need to clear, 1st Yes we provide local destinations professional guides at every destination you visit, and they are more expert in their specific destinations, then 1 single tour guide who would travel with our guest through out the tour, we also provide full time guide but on client request only. 2nd the travel route is absolutely correct, and we have clearly mentioned the distance between different destinations you would travel, along with the duration/time, you would spend in the car while travelling from 1 destination to other, and as the government is working on the roads to make them smoother, so there is some little inconvenience there for some time. 3rd, we are fully vetted in this Buddhist tour with Taj Mahal, and I believe you also enjoyed the trip but because of long distance you traveled in the car, you might feel different, we organize around 30 to 40 trips each year to this Buddhist sector so we are not new on this route. 4rth, due to International border between India and Nepal, the military take their time for security check, and other travelers also need to go through this process also.
