Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Bogotá to San Agustín

    You'll be picked up from your hotel in Bogotá and head out on a night bus to San Agustín, arriving in the morning. After checking into your hotel and having breakfast, you can choose how to spend the rest of your day. There's horseback riding through the archaeological sites if you want to explore on horseback, a car tour that takes you to cultural landmarks around the region, or whitewater rafting on the Magdalena River if you're looking for something more active.

  2. Day 2

    San Agustín

    This is a full day exploring culture and archaeology along the southern tourist ring. You'll start at Estrecho del Magdalena where you can learn about traditional plantain fiber weaving from local artisans. From there, you'll head to the UNESCO-listed Alto de los Ídolos and Las Piedras Archaeological Park, where the Mortiño waterfall is one of the highlights. The day includes several stops with short walks at each location, so you'll get to see quite a bit without long stretches of travel between sites.

  3. Day 3

    San Agustín to Bogotá

    Start with a morning walking tour through San Agustín Archaeological Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll visit multiple spots including Mesitas A, B, and C, check out Fuente del Lavapatos, and spend time at the museum learning about the area's history. In the afternoon, you have free time to wander the town's craft street, visit the historic church, and stop by local coffee shops if you want. Later on, you'll head to the terminal for a night bus back to Bogotá.
