He has made everything easy, never minded changing the itinerary, getting up at 5:00 am, or arriving at 8:00 pm at the hotel... His willingness is amazing! He has accompanied us to all the places, has been attentive to what we like, how we are feeling, has had countless details with us that go beyond a normal guide... Besides, you feel super safe with him in the car. Seeing how some guides and buses drive, we have been super comfortable with him on the trips. Another disappointment: the flexibility to adapt the program. I had specifically chosen this tour for the train experience. I was very disappointed because Mango Vacation had not planned to adapt the tour so that the train journey could still be made, even on a shortened route. And the explanations provided kept changing. We saw the train go by (with tourists enjoying themselves), but the logistician did nothing to ensure that we could do this activity. My trip got off to a very bad start, with poor communication from the outset: I received a message asking for my arrival time, just as I was landing (but there was a driver on arrival, at 2.50 a.m.) and I didn't get my day off on day 1, as planned, because I was integrated into a group that was starting the tour on the day of my arrival (without having been warned in advance). As for the program itself, there were no surprises, nor were there any local specificities. Everything was very "Unesco" (and therefore expensive) and major tourist sites, rather Buddhist and nature-oriented. It's all very signposted and touristy. Excursions are supposedly optional, but if you choose not to do them, there's no plan B, and the only alternative is to sit in the car while the others do the activity. As for breaks, we were only able to sample Sri Lankan specialities during non-tour times, as the logistician only provided the breaks (which we requested) in very Westernized cafés. And let's not forget the rather late departure times (with some exceptions linked to the activity), and the total absence of a scheduled lunch break (we had breakfast, and then nothing until the evening). And what really degrades the experience with this tour operator is the money relationship. All the logistician does is talk about money, all the time. It would have been much calmer if the total amount spent on temple admissions and other activities had been known in advance. In the first place, this would have allowed us to know how much money to change on arrival. And secondly, we wouldn't have had the feeling that the only communication with the logistician was about money, with always the amounts for the tourists. Overall, communication with the driver was impossible, as he didn't speak English, and exchanges with the logistician were often conflictual. To obtain information, I had to complain directly to the main office, by e-mail, twice. One last point: it is specified that a local SIM is included in the amount of the offer. To get it, I had to fight and ask for it, more than a dozen times, only to get it after the 3rd day, grudgingly from the logistician (you need a passport to get it). If the destination itself is really worth it - Sri Lanka is a very welcoming, varied country, with a truly adapted infrastructure - I wouldn't recommend this tour operator, whose rates are certainly competitive to begin with, but as not everything is included, it ends up costing a lot.Show more

  Can’t recommend Mango Vacations more highly; they were fantastic. We travelled around for 16 days all over the island with three children and we all had the most amazing time. Our guide Vishwa Lakshan was just incredible. He made our holiday so special for us all. He speaks perfect English, he’s clever and so knowledgeable. But, more importantly so kind, thoughtful and generous with his time. My kids adore him, as do we. We are coming back next year, and have already booked him.   We as a family of 5. 3 "children" from 17 to 23 had a excellent trip too Sri Lanka in early July. Mango Vacation with our guide Wishwa and our driver picked us up at the Airport late at Night, get us too the first hotel. The rest of our travel was great. Nice country, with nice people. We got to se a lot of history and culture. A lot of nice views. Our highpoint was probably the elephant safari and the Safari in Yala. Our trip was well organized, and a big shout out too our driver that got us safe wherever we went in a quite chaotic traffic. Glad i didn't drive. Great Hotels they had booked for us. They where excellent when some itinerary was cancelled too find new itinerary's. All inn all we had a very nice family holiday, and will probably visit more times.   We visited Sri Lanka in July/August 2024 for 19 days. Without doubt the best way to get around is to hire a vehicle and driver. The reviews online for mango vacations were all excellent so we booked with them and we were not disappointed. They assisted us with our itinerary and hotel recommendations before we travelled and this was enormously helpful. The vehicle was perfect for our family of 5. We were collected from the airport and our adventure began there. Our guide Thilina and our driver Roshan were first class. They looked after us so well, always making sure we had the very best experience and could not do enough to help us. They were excellent at recommending places to visit and good places to eat. They even accompanied us on our hikes up Pidurungala rock for sunrise, up Ella rock, little Adam’s peak and up numerous waterfalls to make sure we followed the correct route and were safe/ not getting lost. They were such good company and a wealth of knowledge and information about the country and the places we were visiting. When we decided to take a train ride from Ella to Haputale they even helped us buy the tickets. And on another day booked us a Sri Lankan cooking class. All in all they ensured we had the best possible holiday experience and we couldn’t be more grateful. We would whole heartedly recommend mango vacations and particularly Thili and Roshan to anyone visiting Sri Lanka and wishing to get the most out of the holiday. Thank you. We visited Marawila, Wilpattu national park, Sigriya, minnereya national park, polonaruwa ancient ruins, Arugam bay, Ella, Nuwara Eliya and Kandi.Show more
