However, I found the quality of guides ranged from outstanding (Halong River Cruise) to downright awful (Mekong Delta and the Hoi An walking tour/boat ride). It was as if the guides had been awakened from a deep sleep and begrudgingly forced into taking on a tour of 8 people with 5 minute's warning. The tour I think is improvable, but like everything, it depends on the taste of each one...there are excursions that I would have changed for others...for example instead of the Mekong delta, I would go to see the Cuchi tunnels, or a circuit to both sites on the same day, which is offered in Saigon for free if you want....and maybe I would have chosen to visit Sapa and do a trekking...then a visit of a few hours to Halong instead of the cruise, and flight from the airport near Halong to Danang that same afternoon...but this is my opinion after knowing the area and talking with other travelers. - Nicholas· April 20th, 2024The good. Experience was good, all destinations were great, hotel in Hanoi wasn't good although location was. Hotels in Hoi An and HCMC were better, Hoi An was excellent. I liked all the destinations and the flow or excursions worked well, although there was nothing on the 1st Day in HCMC which should be addressed, HCMC has lots to offer and with only 2 days there you have to see more. The free day in Hoi an was really nice as its a beach destination and the hotel was the best of the bunch. Overall I enjoyed the trip. The bad. I specifically booked this as a 'Group' tour, not 'solo' but I was the only person on the tour and I don't believe any of these specific tours would or will be groups. This is bad enough but I also paid extra $400+ for a single room, but I did this because it was supposed to be a group tour. It was a solo tour so why was I asked to pay a supplement?. I felt incredibly let down, and rather ripped off, on this point. Also there is no common guide on the tour, you meet new guides on every different excursion, this wouldn't have been an issue if it had been in a group but as I was solo it was always a new set of people and guides to get along with, not what I signed up for. If anything went wrong you had to call the WhatsApp number to get some action, as no guide was present, it worked and no major issues but as there is nobody with you sorting out issues, I could see, would be rather precarious if issues arose.Show moreTrip date: April 2024
