What is the availability for 5 people 2 on e bikes? What is the average distance and climb?

We currently have plenty of availability for 5 people on that trip, e-bikes would be on request once we had a confirmed booking, however it should be no problem to secure 2 e-bikes on that departure. This trip is graded as moderate with the average daily distance being approximately 25 miles per day. There are some quite big ascents on this trip.

Do you offer e-bikes and at what additional cost?

Yes we do offer a limited number of e-bikes for this trip the additional cost for the e-bike is US$255 per person.

Are there bathrooms along the route, and what time do you get started in the morning?

For this tour the group usually departs between 8am to 9am on rides. The tour leader will verify locally. We've graded the cycling on this tour as moderate. You don't need to be a pro to take part but you should have a basic level of fitness and enjoy being in the saddle. We'll take on some steeper ascents and sharp inclines as we head down the coast. We encounter a variety of terrain on this tour, to give us access to the best scenery and minimise our time on main roads. As such our cycling routes are generally along quieter country roads and good off road sections, some of which can be surfaced with gravel or light sand. Our bikes are designed to handle these, with wide tyres and solid frames for stability. On our way in and out of towns or cities, we will encounter traffic. Although typically light, traffic can, on some sections be moving relatively quickly, so you should have a basic road awareness. Your leader will highlight any sections to note well in advance. It can get very hot in Portugal, if you're travelling on a summer departure, remember to pack light layers and sun protection and carry water at all times.

is there a way to have a solo room? if so what is the single supplement? also, the description says that there is a almost always an ensuite bathroom. does that mean that sometimes there is no bathroom in the hotel room? also what is the average age of the clients. looking for a bit older for my client. 40-70 ish.

We do not offer any helmet helmet rentals for safety purposes. Your included bike is a 27 gear Stevens Galant and will be the correct frame size for your height. A pannier is included as well as the facility to fit your own pedals or saddle if you wish to bring them. We provide spare parts and take care of the day to day maintenance. All you need to bring is your own helmet and water bottle.

Do you offer a self guided cycle tour of this Lisbon to Algarve ride

We don't have any self guided tours with Explore. They are all fully guided. In saying that, we are small group (maximum of 16 but average 11) and we hope that you enjoy the ride as you would at home, you can go at any pace you like, as long as the group meets up at the 'next checkpoints' just to make sure we are all still together for the day

Our guide was excellent. Oriol was so conscientious of everybody’s pace and fitness level. He was also safety conscious which made us all feel safe and comfortable on the ride. His passion for cycling also shown through and was appreciated. He was very social and had many of his meals with us, which was also great. This was my first bike tour, so I don’t have anything to compare it to, but I can’t say I was very happy with the experience and very impressed with the ride!Show more

Enjoyed the scenery on this tour. Fortunately, I was able to switch to an e-bike after the first day. It was very hot and someone on the tour had to be taxied to the hotel we were staying in that night due to heatstroke. Our guide Frank did his best to meet our needs. We had specifically requested that helmets be provided and were assured that they would be but on the day we received our bikes, there weren’t enough helmets! The towns we stayed in along the route were interesting. We enjoyed a day off in Vila de Milfontes before the two longest and most challenging days of the tour.Show more

Beautiful scenery, the guides were thoughtful and great, the bikes were ok. I would rate this ride as moderate to difficult. There were hills with 18 and 20 percent grades which I don’t consider to be moderate. More transparency around the difficulty of this ride would have been appreciated in advance. As well a heads up of possible high temperatures would be good. We had one day where the temperature was over 38 degrees, people should be prepared for that. We were told there would be enough helmets for everyone in our group and there was not. Overall a great experience with some wonderful people.Show more

Visa
- Unfortunately we cannot offer you a visa application service. Whether you need a visa or not depends on your nationality and where you wish to travel. Assuming your home country does not have a visa agreement with the country you're planning to visit, you will need to apply for a visa in advance of your scheduled departure.
- Here is an indication for which countries you might need a visa. Please contact the local embassy for help applying for visas to these places.
Payment information
- For any tour departing before October 20th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after October 20th, 2026, a minimum payment of 10% is required to confirm your booking with Explore!. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 75 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
- Some departure dates and prices may vary and Explore! will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
- The following cards are accepted for "Explore!" tours: Visa, Maestro, Mastercard, American Express or PayPal. TourRadar does NOT charge you an extra fee for using any of these payment methods.
Cancellation Policy
- Your money is safe with TourRadar, as we only pay the tour operator after your tour has departed.
- TourRadar is an authorized Agent of Explore!. Please familiarize yourself with the Explore! payment, cancellation and refund conditions.
