- JEJohn· November 11th, 2023My friend and I had a great time. Our group was only 8 people. We represented all age groups and were from the USA, Canada, Australia, Austria, and Germany. We had the best-ever tour guide, Ratha Van. He was one of the best tour guides I have ever had. He went far and beyond for us and went with us every place. He knew where to stop and made additional arrangements for us on our time off. He could not have done more for us. We made new best friends and stayed in touch after our trip. I would suggest that you plan your trip carefully to be sure you match up your activity ability with the difficulty of each trip. Our was a level 2 and worked out well. Others told me I could easily do a 3 but I would certainly not go for a 4 or a 5. Make sure you match up to not overdo your ability. It is customary in Asia to tip service providers such as waiters, at approximately 10%, depending on the service. Tipping is expected - though not compulsory - and shows an expression of satisfaction with the people who have assisted you on your tour. Recommendations for tipping drivers and local guides would range from $1.5-$3.5 USD per person per day depending on the quality and length of the service. At the end of each trip if you felt your G Adventures CEO did an outstanding job, tipping is appreciated. The amount is entirely a personal preference, however as a guideline $20-25 USD per person, per week can be used.
