    Asked on March 9th, 2026

How much walking or hiking is involved, particularly to see the standing stones? We can walk but my husband has some issues after awhile. Also do the B&Bs have full, Queen or twin beds or is there a choice?

    • Highland Experience ToursOperatorWritten March 2026

Both this tour and the Orkney tour are wonderful choices to explore the best of Scotland!

Our tours are designed to be suitable for most to all fitness levels, so there is no strenuous walking or hiking required. At many of the stops there will be places to sit and rest or you can remain on the bus for some photo stops.\u00a0

At the standing stones, you will be able to drive close by and the stop will not require a long-distance walk.\u00a0

For the B&B accommodation you can select a twin room or a double room. Twin rooms will feature two single beds and the double room will have one double bed in the room. If you would like to request a queen/ UK king size bed our accommodation team will see if they can accommodate this for you.

      The main highlights include:

      • Glen Coe & Loch Ness – Experience the dramatic scenery of Glen Coe, steeped in fascinating history, before visiting the legendary waters of Loch Ness.
      • Callanish Standing Stones & Carloway Broch – Explore these remarkable prehistoric sites and step back thousands of years into Scotland's ancient past.
      • Harris Tweed Weaver Visit – Discover the story behind world-famous Harris Tweed and see traditional weaving techniques first-hand.
      • Culloden Battlefield – Visit the historic battlefield and learn about the events of the 1745 Jacobite Rising.
      • Whisky Distillery Experience – Enjoy a visit to a local distillery and sample a dram of single malt whisky.

    Asked on February 8th, 2026

Can there be an exemption for luggage size, or if not, can you advise on the additional cost for luggage measuring 78cm x 28cm?

    Tour Details
    • Highland Experience ToursOperatorWritten February 2026

We do have a luggage restriction policy for our tours. Each passenger is permitted one piece of luggage with a maximum weight of 15 kg and maximum dimensions of 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm. Luggage exceeding these limits, including the 78 cm x 28 cm case mentioned, cannot be guaranteed and acceptance is always at the driver's discretion on the day, depending on available space, safety, and weight distribution.

Passengers are also welcome to bring a small day bag, such as a backpack, to keep with them on the coach during the day.

If you expect to travel with additional or larger suitcases, there are left-luggage facilities at both the main train and bus stations in the city centre. Our departure point is around a 5–10 minute walk from these, and the Stasher website is also a helpful option for nearby luggage storage.

What happens if there are delays on tour and it affects subsequent travel plans?

    Linda

    Asked on December 6th, 2024

I am considering joining your Outer Hebrides tour as an individual solo traveller. My concern is mobility and age. I have just turned eighty and walk somewhat slowly on a walking stick. I have been extending he length of my walks but they are still rather limited to say 100 years before a short rest. I see you advertise suitable to 99 years but will it be suitable for me. Also what are the insurance requirements?

    Age Range
    Travel Support
    • Highland Experience ToursOperatorWritten December 2024

Our driver/guides ensure that when a site is visited that they stop as close as possible to said site/attraction so that limited walking is required. You are welcome to walk as much as or little a you wish whilst you are at attractions/sites. We regularly welcome seniors and those with limited mobility onto our tours and I sincerely believe that you would have no issues making the most of this tour! No hikes or long walks are required on this tour and your driver/guide would be more than happy to assist you in any way you can.

Thanks for your encouraging response. You do not mention travel insurance. Am I insured?

    • Highland Experience ToursOperatorWritten December 2024

We recommend that those who take our tours have suitable travel insurance before taking a tour with us. Travel insurance is not included in the price of the tour, however this is available as an optional extra when you book with Tourradar.

    Asked on November 14th, 2024

What should I be aware of in terms of luggage restrictions on the Highland Experience Tours?
