  In the beginning we were very worried and nervous before we travelled, because this route is not popular and includes an overland border. Luckily everything that happened was excellent. Legend Travel did a great job from Vientiane to Vang Vieng, Luang Prabang and Oudomxay, then across into Vietnam at Dien Bien Phu. We never imagined we could enter Vietnam via this border. The crossing was organised and calm, and arriving in Dien Bien Phu after days in Laos felt unique. Temples, karst scenery, the Mekong towns and the quieter north of Laos made the journey special, and the last day added a real sense of adventure. We got a super experience – more memorable than a standard fly-in tour. If you want Laos plus an unusual way into Vietnam, this itinerary is worth it. Thank you Legend Travel for handling a less common route so well. We would recommend it to travellers who like something different.Show more

I have several recommendations to improve the trip we took: 1. Vientiane would be more interesting if information about the government of Laos,and a history of how Vientiane came to be the capitol was included. We like guides who want to share information on what we are seeing! 2. DO NOT TAKE PEOPLE ON A 3 DAY VAN RIDE FROM Vientiane to Luang Prabang!
