We are interested in the 8 day tour of China (Shanghai, Xian and Beijing) in March or April 2026. We want to know what kind of hotels will be booked (is it 4 star or 5 star) and also we want to know whether entrance fees are included in the price and whether air fare can be arranged from Washington d.c. and if this is available how much extra will it be.

Since this is an original style trip, in most locations we stay in simple tourist-class hotels (i.e. 2-3 stars). Also, once the booking is confirmed, we will be able share a link for airfares, where you can make get a suitable quote according to your requirements. Included activities are Wuxi - Huishan Ancient Town, Wuxi - Jichang Garden, Xi'an - Muslim Quarter Walking Tour and Snack Sampling, Xi'an - Terracotta Warriors Tour, Great Wall - Sunset, Great Wall - Jinshanling section, Beijing - Forbidden City, Beijing - Tiananmen Square.

I will be traveling alone. Can you tell me if there is a single supplement and how much it is.

Single supplement is available to book at an additional cost of €280 but subject to availability.

Would like to ride China's high speed train, is that part of the tour?

Yes, China's high-speed train experience is included as part of the tour—it's definitely a highlight for many of our travellers.

I want to know about the pricing. Is the price per person or the group. If you have 10 people can we pay the difference. We would pay for the two empty spots to have a group tour of 10. Also how do we hold the reservation and have people pay? What is the payment plan info.

The per person trip cost is USD $1,770 (subject to change). We can accommodate only 16 passengers per departure, and we require full per person cost from each traveler. We are pleased to offer a complimentary hold on the trip for 48 hours, after which a deposit of 400 is required to confirm your space.

Can I fly from Miami to Shanghai

You can definitely fly from Miami to Shanghai, but there might not be direct flights. You will need to take a connecting flight. Please check on this with your selected airlines. Shanghai has two main airports: Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) – This is the primary international airport in Shanghai, handling most long-haul flights. Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA) – This airport mainly serves domestic and some regional flights. When booking your flight, make sure your arrival airport is either Pudong (PVG) or Hongqiao (SHA).

How long does it take to process the hotel list for the tour?

Processing the hotel list for your tour typically takes 3-4 business days.

We suggest booking separately if you want separate payments. You can let us know you are traveling together to arrange rooming. Visas are not included and are the responsibility of the traveler. Our tour guide, Samantha Li was exceptional - she was kind, thoughtful and engaging, sharing lots of information about the places we visited and giving us great recommendations. This was our first trip with Intrepid but it definitely won’t be our last! We were with a great group of fellow travellers from around the world and really enjoyed zipping around China with this group. There were a couple of hiccups during the trip but Samantha dealt with these aptly and made the experience stress free for us. What I will say is that this Tour is 'full on'. There were days when we didn't have time to eat anywhere and had to buy our breakfast, lunch and snacks the night before for travelling during the day. It was definitely pretty exhausting but so worth it to be able to see all the magnificent sights in Shanghai, X'ian and Beijing in such a short space of time. Highly recommend this tour.Show more

I think it would be beneficial to change the group meeting either early afternoon or after dinner so that people can see the Shanghai skyline at night For the sleeper train book whole section and then split the price so you can be with people you know. Sunny was a great guide. She was very informative, helpful and just an all around lovely person who allowed us to appreciate Chinese culture and hospitality.Show more

Payment information
- For any tour departing before April 16th, 2026 a full payment is necessary. For tours departing after April 16th, 2026, a minimum payment of $400 is required to confirm your booking with Intrepid Travel. The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
- Some departure dates and prices may vary and Intrepid Travel will contact you with any discrepancies before your booking is confirmed.
