  A once-in-a-lifetime trip, and perfect for a solo female traveler who wants to explore Egypt. Our guide Mohammad was incredible and really made the trip seem like it was tailored just for our group. This trip is structured with very balanced drives between destinations (the longest was 5 hours), so you get to be on the ground more than in the minibus. The longest travel time is the overnight train, which for me is ideal (fall asleep in Cairo & wake-up in Aswan). All the big highlights are included, and the extra activities are perfect additions to the trip (definitely budget to see Abu Simbel in Aswan and go on the balloon ride in Luxor – the highlights of the trip!). There is plenty of free time too for solo explorers, and Mohammad was always ready with excellent suggestions for places to eat, sites to see, and logistics information (where is the nearest grocer, pharmacy, how much to negotiate in the markets, which activities to avoid, etc.). I got to experience the real Egypt along with the tourist sites and loved every minute of my trip! Word of advice: Egypt is much colder than I expected in the winter, so if you go during the winter months, bring a jacket and a set of thermals (especially if you are on a felucca at night – bring your sleeping bag!). 10/10, would do this trip again and love it all over!Show more

  The tour is fantastic for someone 55 years or younger but a bit tough for me and my wife who are both 69 years old. I do not blame the tour guide as he is one of the best I have ever met. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable of Egyptian history and mythology, he really bent over backward to accommodate every members who need assistance. I do not blame it on the tour operator Intrepid Travel either as the tour was rated 3 out of 5 in their site which means that it can be physical at times. Unfortunately, I never saw the rating until after the tour. I book my tour thru TourRadar. It was, and still is, mislabel as suitable for 15 to 99. I believe TourRadar should always adopt the rating of their operator. A mislabel tour can have catastrophic consequence.Show more
