I want to confirm that you have e-bikes available for this tour, and that you have small size e-bikes. I'm 5'1". What are the road conditions - paved, gravel, hard packed dirt?

    • Adventure SouthOperatorWritten February 2026

The Great West Coast Cycle is a road biking trip, so all riding is on sealed roads.

We offer a wide variety of trips featuring different riding styles and trail surfaces. If you let me know what type of riding you're interested in, along with your preferred travel dates, I'd be happy to help find the right trip for you.

And yes, we do have E-bikes available in sizes ranging from XS to XL.

    Julia

    Asked on January 31st, 2026

Can you confirm if any discounts for this trip? Email said 3% discount could be applied. Would that 3% be applied to single supplement and road bike rental? Also, do you have any add ons for after bike?

    Price / Availability
    Single supplement
    • Adventure SouthOperatorWritten February 2026

At the moment, we don't offer any discounts for this trip, so the cost would be as advertised on TourRadar. You could always combine your biking trip with one of our hiking trips, or perhaps add a biking trip on the North Island if you're planning to visit both islands.

    Asked on January 23rd, 2026

This looks a great tour and the dates are perfect for me, just question about description is "serious" ? the details don't look so bad except for one day, I will look at other tours if this one is trpically booked by serious riders..please let me know.

    Tour Details
    • Adventure SouthOperatorWritten January 2026

This is one of our Road Cycle trips, so it does tend to attract more keen road cyclists, however having said this we do have two booked on Ebikes for the trip, one on their own bike and one on a gravel bike, so I would say they are not all 'serious' road bikers. Which day are you concerned about - as this is a fully supported trip you will have the option of shortening a ride if you are not wanting to ride the full distances. The guide will be very experienced in offering alternatives or pick up points if you are wanting a shorter ride.

Which is the easier bike trips on the South Island in November?

    Tour Details
    • Adventure SouthOperatorWritten January 2026

the easiest bike ride would be our Otago Rail Trail classic trip. Another great option would be our West Coast Wilderness trail trip. Both trips feature very different parts and scenery of the beautiful South Island.

    Asked on October 10th, 2024

Do you offer E bike to rent?

    Transport
    • Adventure SouthOperatorWritten October 2024

Yes we have ebike rental. Some considerations: Cyclists should have good road biking skills. E-bike battery typically has a range of about 80km. Our support vehicle will always be nearby. Road riding can be hazardous, so we recommend using our developed trail rides.

    Asked on November 23rd, 2022

Could you please advise what month the best time to visit New Zealand for cycling is?

    Tour Details
    • Adventure SouthOperatorWritten November 2022

New Zealand's climate is complex and varies from warm subtropical in the far north to cool temperate climates in the far south, with severe alpine conditions in the mountainous areas. In short November and March are the best times to be here. The warmest months are usually January or February. The coldest June/July/August. This is the reason why we operate our trips during the November-March dates.
