Itinerary
- Day 1
Georgetown to Iwokrama River Lodge
You'll leave Georgetown early in the morning and head to Iwokrama River Lodge using your preferred method, either taking an 8-hour drive through the rainforest in a 4x4 or flying there in about an hour. Once settled, grab lunch and then get out on the nearby wildlife trails with a guide to look for birds and forest animals. After dinner, you'll take a nocturnal river cruise on the Essequibo River where you might see Black Caiman and other creatures active at night.

- Day 2
Iwokrama - Turtle Mountain
Begin with breakfast, then take a boat for 30 minutes to reach Turtle Mountain's base. The hike to the 290m summit is moderately challenging and takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, but you'll get nice rainforest canopy views from up there. After that, the rest of your day involves exploring trails around Turtle Mountain Camp with a guide, searching for monkeys and other wildlife. You'll spend the night at the new Turtle Mountain Camp.

Iwokrama - Canopy Walkway
After breakfast at Turtle Mountain Camp, you head to Kurupukari Falls to check out ancient Amerindian petroglyphs that are over 6,000 years old. You'll have a refreshing lunch, then move on to Iwokrama's Canopy Walkway, which is a 154-metre structure with suspension bridges and platforms reaching up to 30 metres high. From up there, you can spot birds, monkeys, and unique rainforest plants. By late afternoon, you'll get back to Iwokrama River Lodge for dinner with views of the Essequibo River.

Iwokrama - Return to Georgetown
There's an optional early morning boat trip around Indian House Island if you want to spot butterflies, snakes, and macaws while hearing the dawn bird songs. After breakfast at the lodge, you have two choices: head north back to Georgetown, or stay in the area and visit other sites in Rupununi if you're interested.
