Beijing
You'll get settled at your hotel after arriving in Beijing. This evening, take a walk out to Wangfujing Street, which is a busy pedestrian area packed with shops and restaurants where you can start getting a feel for the city. Included dinner is on the agenda before heading back to rest.

- Day 2
Beijing
Head out to see some of Beijing's major sights today. The Great Wall at Mutianyu is first on your list, and you'll take a cable car up for views of the surrounding mountains. On the way back, stop by the 798 Art District and then the Temple of Heaven, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. By evening, you'll have a foot massage and Tai Chi class before trying traditional lacquered duck for dinner.

- Day 3
Beijing
This is a full day exploring central Beijing's iconic locations. Start at the Forbidden City, the former imperial palace, then head to Jingshan Park to look back at the Forbidden City from Coal Hill. Walk around Tiananmen Square and see the Beijing Opera House. After lunch, visit the Summer Palace and ride a tricycle through the historic Hutong neighborhoods to see how traditional Beijing residents lived, including a stop at a classic Siheyuan courtyard house.

Beijing to Nanjing
After breakfast, you'll head to the train station to board one of China's high-speed trains that travels at 300 km/h, getting you to Nanjing in under four hours. Once there, explore Purple Mountain with its Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum and the historic Linggu Temple. You'll have time to wander around the city on your own before staying overnight.

Nanjing - Suzhou - Tongli - Shanghai
Head to Suzhou, which is known for its classical gardens. You'll visit the Garden of the Humble Administrator, the largest garden in the city, then have free time to walk around Pingjiang Road with its canals and teahouses. After lunch, continue on to Tongli, a water town where you'll take a boat ride through narrow canals and see traditional stone bridges. The day ends when you arrive in Shanghai.

- Day 6
Shanghai
Explore Shanghai's main sights starting in Pudong with its modern skyscrapers including the Pearl Tower. Take a ferry across the Shanghai River, then head to the Old City and Yuyuan Garden where you'll have a traditional tea ceremony. Check out Xintiandi next with its shops and cafes. Later, walk through Tianzifang's narrow alleys and art galleries. Finish with a stroll along The Bund to see the colonial buildings. If you want, an optional evening boat trip lets you see the city lights.
