London
Start with a guided city tour covering Westminster, Parliament, the City, and the Thames. The afternoon is yours to do what you want, though there's an optional trip to Windsor and Windsor Castle in the Thames Valley if you're interested. In the evening, meet up at Piccadilly and walk through Leicester Square, Chinatown, and Soho's theaters and entertainment spots before heading back by bus.

London to Durham
Head north through England toward Cambridge, where you'll see the colleges there. After grabbing lunch, continue on to York to check out the cathedral, Roman walls, and busy shopping streets with free time to look around. By evening you'll arrive in Durham, a medieval town where the cathedral sits right in front of the castle.

Durham to Edinburgh
Travel into Scotland with a stop in Alnwick, a town known for its gardens and the medieval castle from the Harry Potter films. Then continue to Edinburgh, getting there around midday. A local guide takes you on a panoramic tour of Scotland's capital, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where Edinburgh Castle overlooks steep streets and green spaces.

Edinburgh to Inverness
After leaving Edinburgh, you'll photograph The Kelpies, those massive horse head sculptures from Scottish mythology. Move on to Stirling to see its impressive castle (admission's covered). Head north to Pitlochry in the whisky region with time for lunch and a walk around. Stop at Culloden, where an important Scottish battle took place. You'll finish in Inverness, the Highlands' capital, where the castle stands out. There's a suggested walk along the River Ness and across the suspension bridge if you want.

Inverness
Spend the day in northern Scotland's forests, lochs, and dramatic landscapes.
